Description
This is one of the vehicles from my Star Wars Fanfiction Series: Star Wars: The Shadow Wars. The series is currently between "Seasons."Note: The information below is from my own universe which is a blend of old and new canon and it not to be considered canon in any other universe but mine. I should also mention that this ship is canon (at least legacy canon) but its history is significantly different as far as my universe is concerned.

"This is the ship that attacked Naboo and Tatooine. Force it's a big one." "The Empire had larger ships at its disposal. We've certainly not seen the last of this ship." - Jacen Solo and Leia Organa-Solo regarding the Finalizer
When the Sith Empire appeared in 28 ABY, the bulk of the Sith's forces that led the initial assaults at Coruscant and Yavin IV were Malak Class Star Destroyers along with their smaller support craft. However, while the Republic was occupied fighting at Coruscant and Yavin, Sith warships attacked four other targets, two of which were simply bombarded from orbit. Naboo was one of the targeted planets but only an isolated area, the Varykino Retreat and its surrounding area, was bombarded from orbit. When Naboo's Bravo Flight managed to get airborne, their pilots saw the ship attacking them, a massive Star Destroyer of unknown make. The Star Destroyer fled after the bombardment had concluded.
Afterwards, this Star Destroyer would appear sporadically whenever Darth Vandal, the younger sister of Darth Akul, would travel between locations. Republic Intelligence finally managed to get information regarding the vessel and learned that it was a new model of Star Destroyer constructed by the Sith in the interim after the Empire fell. Republic Intelligence managed to learn the name and make of the vessel: the Finalizer, a Resurgent-Class Star Destroyer.
The Resurgent-Class is designed to act as a Command Vessel for the Sith's leaders, specifically the Empress's Hands, however the Finalizer appears to be the only one produced so far. It's believed this is because the Sith have been focusing more on the mass production of their main forces since the Resurgent-Class isn't meant to appear in large numbers.
The Finalizer was originally under Darth Vandal's command, but after Vandal's injuries at Mustafar, it was temporarily handed over to Admiral Natasi Daala for her to use. Daala used the Finalizer during her attempt to sway the Kaleesh to the Sith's side early in the war but withdrew. The Finalizer would remain Daala's flagship up until after Vandal's death on Thule. Afterwards, it was handed over to Darth Stalker as his flagship where it has remained under his command ever since.
It should be noted that the Resurgent-Class is unusual in that it is, so far, the only original Sith Warship that is not directly named after a prominent Sith Lord. Republic intelligence has confirmed though that the Resurgent-class is named after Darth Magnus, a minor Sith Lord from the Jedi Civil War, some four-thousand years prior, that led a splinter group of Sith Soldiers into a Carbonite Induced Hybernation as the Jedi Civil War came to an end, believing that they would reemerge one day to begin an anti-Republic resistance. However, Magnus and his troops stayed in hibernation far too long and the 4 millennia of hibernation destroyed their minds, including Magnus's own. However all was not lost as Akul managed to use the mindless troops and Magnus as the templates for the modern Sith Empire's own cloned soldiers. Most of the cloned Dark Jedi within the Sith Empire are clones of Darth Magnus. Writings of Magnus recovered from his sleeping army's resting place, revealed that Magnus had high opinions of himself and had taken to calling himself Darth Magnus the Resurgent and would one day lead to a resurgence of the Sith in the galaxy. In a way, Magnus's delusions of grandeur have come true, and Akul decided to humor the now mindless Magnus's ego by ordering the Resurgent-Class Star Destroyer named accordingly.

So the Sith Troopers are empty shells with no personality?

Well...that's about 50% right. Their templates are, yes. The troopers themselves are not.
