Well, sorry to hear that.
I think there was someone working on an alternative program for Macs. I don't know how far he got or if he'll ever finish it, but maybe you'll have more luck in the future.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do as you don't really need to type anything anywhere to download the program, but if you want to leave a message on ponychan, you can use any name you want with any password you like (its use is just for editing posts later, so don't worry too much about it).

OH LOL!!! so i just click download on the one i want then i will get the download then when i go to my downloads it will be a file? if so what next? OR dose it just download the pony and its on my desktop doing was it dose?

Once you've downloaded the program, you have to unzip it (make sure all the folders and subfolders stay intact) and then you can start it like any other program, I guess. I have no experience with Macs, so I can't really help you there.
Anyway, the program comes with more than 200 characters already included. You just select the ones you want and hit the "Give me ponies!" button. It's pretty self-explanatory for the most part.

OK, so i got the download... i opened it so (i'm guessing this is the same not on a mac) and when i did it didn't have/say "Give me ponies!"

Maybe it says something different in the Mac version? I have no idea since, like I said, I don't have a Mac.
Maybe you should go to the ponychan thread and ask about it there, as that's where the programmers can usually be found...
