Description
Ayaka enjoyed the early evening breeze as she walked around the campus. The university was closed for Spring Break, and many students...and some teachers...were enjoying warmer weather in places like Florida, Arizona, California, and Mexico. Ayaka was using this week to catch up on grading papers, and her backlog of recorded television shows. Her other job, as a member of the Avian Angels, took up most of her free time both in Steel City and in space where the Angels acted as Galactic Guardians. With the work done for the day, Ayaka was ready for a quiet evening with 5 episodes of her favorite procedural drama.

Then her phone rang.

"Hello" she answered. "Oh, Amber! Hi! How are you?"

"Not bad Miss Ayaka...but I'm having a small robotics problem I was hoping you could help with."

"Absolutely! I'm not that far from the science building..."

"No, I'm not in the lab...more like the corner of 8th and Main..."

"Oh...so it's a different robotic problem...a really tall robotic problem. And a scientist who likes to over-monologue."

"Yep...and I was hoping your buff bird alter ego wouldn't mind lending a wing?" Amber said with a giggle...before letting out a swear after dodging an attack that was a little too close.

"I'm on my way!" Ayaka said as she ended the call and put the phone in her bag. Rushing to an empty area between two buildings, she pulled up her sweater sleeve to reveal her Celestial Transmutation Bracelet. As the yellow bird flashed rapidly, colorful lights surrounded her. In moments, Ayaka was transformed into Omega Owl. With a leap of her mighty legs, she was airborne and moved through the night sky like a flash.

"You never cease to disappoint me..." Doctor Kotetsu said as the blast from his weapon narrowly missed Hornette. "You failed to eliminate Crimson Valkyrie and Silver Falcon when you were created...and now you refuse to die!"

"Would it help to say I'm sorry? I'm not going to...I'm just curious..." she replied, firing another round of arrows at the giant mech. The arrows falling helplessly to the ground after making contact with the force field.

"Always with a quip...and I thought that was a redhead thing..."

Another blast from the robot was aimed at Hornette, who easily evaded it.

"Just stand still so I can squash you!" the Doctor exclaimed.

The robot's foot rapidly descended towards Amber when a yellow and blue flash appeared in front of her. Putting her arms up, she caught the robot's foot as it tried to stomp down.

"Hey, Hornettte...so what's the problem you're having?" Omega Owl said has the used her tremendous strength to hold back the giant robot.

"It's a new upgrade...a force field that my arrows aren't able to penetrate."

"Hmm...let me take a closer look." Omega Owl said as the pushed forward, causing the robot to lose balance temporarily. As the mech reestablished its footing, Omega Owl flew closer.

"You insipid bird!" Doctor Kotetsu yelled on the screen.

"Has anyone told you how loud you are?" Owl asked as she narrowed her eyes and the exterior of the robot seemed to vanish, to her anyway, as her technopathic abilities kicked in. The interior of the robot, and all the circuits and wiring that made it up, was clear as day to her. She smiled as she flew away and back down towards the purple clad archeress.

"I think I can disable the force field for a few seconds. He'll be able to reactivate it pretty quickly, but it should give you enough time to fire a few shots.

"His designs all have a fault...this one looks like the back of the legs."

She looked at the building across the street. her eyes moving towards the rooftop.

"That height should provide the right angle for the shot. I just need about a minute to get there...give or take a few seconds."

"I can handle that. Break on 3?"

"Your count or mine?"

"Yours." Omega Owl replied.

"OK...1...2...3!"

Hornette raced across the street, but Doctor Kotetsu was able to spot her and fired another blast. Omega Owl raced in front of it to absorb the energy and impact with no ill effects thanks to her high level of invulnerability. Hornette made it to the building and the Bird flew upwards towards the giant mech.

"Aargh!" the Doctor exclaimed. "This ends now!"

"I agree!" Omega Owl replied as she moved her hands in front of the screen.

"What...what are you doing?!"

"Placing my coffee order" she said as the screen moved to the mobile app of her favorite coffee shop. "Hmm, I deserve a large after this workout...and maybe a pastry..."

Omega Owl noticed the flash across the street. Knowing that Hornette was in position, the Owl performed another update to the robot.

"The force field...no!"

"To paraphrase the #BestBritishRedhead ...oh yeah!" Omega Owl said the arrows made contact to the back of each of the robot's legs. Two small explosions started a chain reaction and Omega Owl balled up her fist.

"Now, how about a big glass of...punch!" she continued as she connected to the screen causing smoke to billow and sparks to fly as the robot slowly crumpled to the ground.

Epilogue

Omega Owl lifted the head of the robot with ease and deposited it into the large scrap metal containers that the SCPD's special Meta-Human Response Team provided. Her muscles bulged from all the heavy lifting, something that was not lost on the police force tasked to help out.

She walked towards Hornette who handed her the large beverage.

"Thanks for the help, Miss Ayaka."

"Always glad to lend a hand to my favorite student. But maybe next time, we leave the robot battle for the lab." she said with both ladies laughing.

"Umm, Miss Ayaka...did you notice that detective hasn't taken his eyes off of you since he arrived."

"Really?" she asked as she turned her head to look. He quickly turned his attention towards his phone, trying to play it cool.

"You should ask him out!"

"I don't know...dating when he only knows Omega Owl? What if he doesn't like...me?"

"Hmm, I know! Jules and Uncle John both work with him, we'll have them talk you up and set you up on a date!"

"Is being a matchmaker one of your hidden superpowers?"

"I'm no Aunt Jasmine when it comes to that...but I do have a sense for these kinds of things."

"If your romantic senses are as heightened as your other ones, then I'm confident in your plan." Akaya said with a smile.

"Great!" Amber exclaimed as she noticed the detective looking at Omega Owl. "Now, show him your Bs!"

"What?"

"Your back, booty, and biceps...what did you think I meant?" Amber said with a laugh.

"Oh...I thought you meant...never mind..." Ayaka blushed as she performed a double biceps flex, giving the detective a good look at her powerful arms, her strong back, and her tight booty.

Amber handed Ayaka her yellow jacket that was adorned with an owl and held up a bag.

"Now, let's dig into these cookies...I'm starving!"

Another pairing of Ayaka/Omega Owl with Hornette. I really enjoy this pairing, as I've mentioned how much of a favorite Amber/Hornette is. Plus it shows off that the Angels can use their brains as often as they use their brawn.
