Description
Full-view for details.Created from sketch to finish in Photoshop7
Ive been dying to do a sci-fi monster piece for a long time now and this one has elements that ive been trying to incorporate into a composition for a long time.
I glanced at a few photos of various abandoned factories, camcorders and CDC biohazard suits for accuracy's sake, in addition to several close-up stills of a couple 80's horror movies used to get the expression I wanted for the foreground victim.
Thank you in advance for coming by my gallery - comments are always welcome.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did drawing it.

yay, i'm appreciated! X3
but you're quite welcome. if the artist puts so much time and effort into a piece, it's the least i can do to make a decent comment on it.

my lil bro says: the humans aren't good but i like the monster. the monster should eat the humans! yaaay!
[my bro is straaange]
i think the outfits are wierd. but the expressions are really good; i also like the recording camera bit. it's cool.
he also says: i like the monter's hands. it's like a slovene. a mutated slovene.
[PS for those of you who don't know, a slovene is a monster from an english bbc series called Dr Who]

I *love* Doctor Who - both new and the old ones from the 80's.
Thanks to you and your strange brother for the comments.

ok, i'll pass that on.
o, and also, he later said that it also looked like an Ood, if that's how you spell it, but i couldn't be bothered to write another comment.

I hope this doesn't offend you: Reminds me of Doom 3.
One thing I'll never understand is that why companies pay trillions of dollars to experiment on these beasts, and forget to put a few shotguns or rpgs around, and dress up only in haz-mat suits instead of full on armor. I think I would go as far as to hide a nuke inside just in case, but I don't have a couple trillion and a monster in a cryogenic state lying around
Oh, and that's some flippin' awesome detail on that guy. The eyes, the hair, the veins, and those tentacles, real piss your pants material

Dear God this is beautiful... I myself am a big fan of these "science gone wrong" kind of situations, mostly because I'm an aspiring scientist myself.
But anyway, I really really adore this piece, everything's just so perfect. X) From big things like the creature's design to the baleful glow within the monster's eyes, to small details like the fog condensed on the worker's helm...
If I could fave this pic 5 bajillion times, I would. XD

Im not so much proud as I am happy to have finally gotten this idea out - there are elements in this work that ive wanted to put together for a long time but never found the right composition, until now.

wow, kickass work, I love the people's expression and the feel of panic in this. The monster looks fantastic and almost confused as of why he's there
Congrats on the DD!

Thank you so much for that!
Im really inspired that you got a sense of panic, im *blown-away* that you read part of the expression that I intended for the monster; rage and confusion were definately intended, in addition to other stuff that I dont want to say so the viewer makes thier own decision.
Very inspiring and astute - I appreciate ya.

No problem!
I really love this, I think it looks more like a single frame of an animation more than an illustrations. So I can really see a story and actions going on before and after this specific frame. That's a fantastic work ♥

Very nice
Really has a Doom 3-kinda horror-atmosphere, the horror feeling is the only thing that that game did right, sadly.
Nevertheless this piece is colourfully strong but still very grim/dark how it makes me feel.

Cool!
Im seriously going to have to check out this game.
I know of it, even seen screen shots - im guessing there is a boss or monster that looks like this guy?
Im glad you got a grim feel, I was definately shooting for a feeling of impending doom.

... I'll have to put this in dot-points...
- Lighting. Red and green compliment each other extremely well in this picture, and the red serves to highlight the scaryness of the monster, and the green the technology of the men.
-'Camera' angle. Skewed so as to give a real sense of action, and to immerse the veiwer in the picture. The rule of thirds is used to frame the monster's face and the two men beneath it.
-pose. I have seen pictures like this try and fail to re-enact a terrifically 'action' pose, but the threatening stance of the monster, and the sort of inhibited flee of the men really add to the tension in this scene.
-foregound monitor. A fantastic little touch, and it really helps the veiwer get 'into' the picture.
-Just Plain Awesome. I mean, come on. Evil demon-monster attacking scientists. CAN you go wrong?
-Very good use of steam, and the fog on the guy's visor is a great touch.
Also, Fave'd. Keep up the phenominal work.

This really means a lot to me, more than you think.
Im not a trained artist, im self taught; so while im utterly ignorant as to what color theory means and what the rules of thirds means it's extremely inspiring to get feedback like this and exciting to think that what im doing based on intuition might actually mean something technically.
Very exciting!
This makes me want to be better and better - I really appreciate you, thanks for shooting by and taking the time to comment.

Oh believe me, It was a very exiting peice to comment on!
I'm a part-time filmmaker, and my father is very much into photography. the rule of thirds is simply a grid with each line separating the picture into thirds horizontally and vertically. Points of interest are usually put at these points to add dynamic quality to the peice.
The3 most astonishing thing so far is the fact you are self-taught. If it were possible to pass you any more respect, you would have it. I look forward to your future work!
