Description
Full-view for details.Created from sketch to finish in Photoshop7
Ive been dying to do a sci-fi monster piece for a long time now and this one has elements that ive been trying to incorporate into a composition for a long time.
I glanced at a few photos of various abandoned factories, camcorders and CDC biohazard suits for accuracy's sake, in addition to several close-up stills of a couple 80's horror movies used to get the expression I wanted for the foreground victim.
Thank you in advance for coming by my gallery - comments are always welcome.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did drawing it.

Brother, to put it bluntly, your digs are fan-freakin'-tastic!!! This piece in particular is a striking piece of work. Did I get that right? All in Photoshop off of a sketch? Very Impressive.
I dig how the piece tells a story within itself...Would pop off the shelf if it was a cover!
You did great, m'friend. Look forward to seeing more from you.

I could be a low life train spotter and point out that what is shown in the camera monitor isn't consistent with the camera angle, but I won't bring down what is otherwise a great piece. Love the lighting, mood and composition.
Well done.

Thanks Mr T.
I dont really look at critiques that way, when people point out stuff thats off it only helps me.
But in all fairness your assuming the camera is functioning normally and that the imagine hasnt glitched up with a frozen frame, which judging by the image distortion, could quite possibly be happening.
All the best to you, im glad the mood came through

Nice comeback. I'll pay that one.
I was directed to your site by Evan Campbell, by the way. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy. Great artist too. It's nice to have access to works of such great calibre as shown by yourself and him. You guys are definitely right up there on the DA pyramid of talent.

Sound design is one of the coolest things when it comes to the production-side of things I think, it just looks so fun and I love the process behind it.
I appreciate this compliment, its cool to get perspectives like this.

Steelpengu In reply to BradRigney [2008-12-09 20:55:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I wish there was a category for it on here so I could show it to you. The project was to tell a story with just sound so I did this wet, pipe laden underground facility into a cold steel research room with lots of computers and technicians and bubbling tanks and one the specimens comes to life and slams through a glass tank, chasing a lab tech out into a city street.
I saw this and was like "bam, that's what was in my head." Sound is almost the easiest part sometimes, because you don't have budget restraints on what you can hear, you know? You want a monster: dial up some heavy breathing and footstomping. Want property destruction? Just dub in some gravel crunching and explosions. No permission papers necessary! Hahaha

This is just...WOW.
The coloring is just so excellent; nit looks like a professional 3-d render! Expecially the pipes in the background. And the suits! Man... The glitch in the video is the cherry on top for me.

It's always good to have one of those 'OH SNAP' pictures in the gallery. I like your composition, although I would have liked more horror-struck faces. I'd say bring some more of that red lighting into the front of the picture. Great job on the monster though. And your metals and concrete-- great.
