Cloudy Quartz and Igneous Rock were never in love. Their marriage was an arranged one, and Cloudy was just barely 20 while her husband-to-be was well over 40. The pair tried to get along, but Igneous was strictly traditional, and she was just a house wife. They met on their wedding day, and spoke once or twice for many months afterwards. The two ended up having two daughters, Maud Pie and Limestone Pie. The mare immediately fell in love with the two, and was hopeful that the same could happen with her husband. Cloudy desperately tried to love him, hoping to make the living situation more bearable, but you can't pick who you love.

Cloudy found this out when she travelled to Ponyville and stumbled into a bar. A baby pink pegasus, clearly drunk, was howling with laughter among a group and caught her eye. Cloudy immediately tried to leave, but the unknown girl struck up a conversation with her. Cloudy learned all about the woman's journeys across Equestria and fell very interested. One their talk was over, she left, vowing that was the only time, just one visit.

Hah, that wouldn't last long. Cloudy would find herself talking to this mare, Skylar, every day for a month. The two ended up going from friends, to best friends, to oh lord I'm in her bed. Sky seemed to have no problem being a mistress, as she herself had taken a strong liking to the earth pony. Cloudy fell deeper for her within their many visits, until Skylar had to break it to her. Her work was calling her elsewhere, and she had to leave. Cloudy, desperate to keep her close, revealed that she was pregnant. "H-how is that even possible?" "I don't know Sky, but I know it's yours." Skylar was over the moon with joy and proposed Cloudy run away with her. Cloudy couldn't live a life of uncertainty, let alone raise a child in it and declined. Skylar gave her a pink and blue feather, and kissed her goodbye. That was the last time they saw each other.

When her little baby was born bright pink with feathery fluff, Cloudy knew that Igneous would have her head. However, a glimmer of hope emerged. Her own father had been a pegasus, and Igneous' mom was bright pink. The stallion never believed the child was his, but the two stayed together and never brought it up. "What should we name this little pinkie?" Cloudy asked, looking back at the brown stallion. "I don't care."

Igneous and Cloudy had one more daughter, Marble Pie, and while Pinkie's father was hard on all of them, there was an extra bite in his words when aimed at her. An extra sting in the whack for slacking off or not paying attention. Pinkie believed she could finally get close to her father by throwing her family a party, and it seemed to work, for awhile. However, when Igneous pulled Pinkie aside one night after she pulled a prank on him, all his anger came out at once. "You get the hell off my farm child, I never want to see your damned pink face again." That was the day Pinkie ran away, deciding to spread joy to other lonely kids. When Cloudy found out she was furious and got Pinkie to come home.

Twenty years later, Igneous died in a freak accident and Cloudy decided she'd finally tell her daughter. She told Pinkie all about the intriguing stranger named Skylar, and how Pinkie wasn't Igneous' daughter. Cloudy gave Pinkie one black-and-white picture, and a vibrant pink and blue feather to find her mom.

Skylar, better known as Sunrise Bay, is an undercover agent serving directly under General Sea Spray in Queen Novo's army. She was tasked with disguising herself as whatever needed- a griffon, hippogriff or pony -and told to gather information on the Storm King. She was the first given a transfigure necklace, more advanced than the others.

One of her stops landed her in Ponyville, where she met Cloudy Quartz in a bar. We all know that story, they fall in love, become frens with bennies, yanno. Upon their departure, Skylar gives Cloudy one of her real Hippogriff feathers, pink and blue. Shortly after she left, she came upon a small town that the Storm King had already claimed. She was the only pony other than Tempest Shadow, who found Skylar suspicious. One night she was ambushed by the unicorn, smashing her shell necklace and turning her back to a Hippogriff. She tried to fight Tempest off and escape, but Storm Creatures ended up capturing her. She suffered a long twenty years in prison, until a group of 6 put the tyranny to an end. She left back to her kingdom, and the last thing she was expecting was her daughter finding her all these years later.
