a sunset in the fall on lake superior. i love watching the sunset here. i live in the keweenaw peninsula, so the lake is never far away, and it's a great place to get away and let my mind go. this was taken at one of my favorite spots, where i can sit and watch the sunset behind that large lighthouse in the distance. this was the most amazing sunset i'd ever seen. colors were only adjusted to compensate for the desaturation and loss of contrast that occurred during scanning. this is what the photo looked like and what i saw that day. i mention this because the colors appear too bold. it was a good evening.Related content

Wow man these colors give a really surreal feeling to the whole picture.. at first i did not even saw it was a lake but rather a kind of rocky desert like in Mordor with the Barad-Dur tower

The colors in this picture are just so amazing. I can't believe that it's a picture and not a painting. What kind of camera did you use? It just looks so real as if you are there to see the sunset. I would have to agree that I love Sunsets too. They are just so awesome. Great Job on your picture

This is a really nice piece. Excellent composition: foreground, middle and background all nicely framed. My only critique would be the building (light house i guess) were less centrally located...for drama. But awsome work.

Wow, this looks like a painting! I love the strong colors! What's that thing in the horizon, a boat? I dig the texture of the stones and the waves, very nice. Awesome shot

It really is a amazing shot. The reflections of the sky on the water and stones are beautiful. The tower(or what it is) makes a great focus in the picture.+fav

This sunset is even moreso intensified by the reflection on the water, and at thumbnail glance, it doesnt look like water, it looks like land because of the color. The little building in the distance is an interesting touch as well. Nice job

That is an -AMAZING- shot. The purple/pink tones are really quite eye-catching, especially coupled with the orange. It looks like a very peaceful place to be...I can almost imagine I'm there.
