Background:
Growing up, all Trevor Longicorn ever wanted to be, was a superhero. However, an avid comics reader and bonafied nerd, not to mention the smartest kid in school, Trevor was not exactly popular during that important phase of his life. Being constantly bullied by the bigger and stronger kids, ignored by the girls, Trevor suffered through almost every nerd-cliché one can think of. This treatment, combined with a dysfunctional family life at home, slowly but surely caused Trevor to grow bitter and hate the world. He still tried to be the best he could be for a long time. But when he constantly fell flat on his face, experiencing that cheating seemingly got you everywhere in life, while being kind, honest and just good at what you do, didn't get you anywhere, he lost faith in the human race.
One day he had enough of being underappreciated and always pushed to the back of the line. So he started using his talents for his own gain, instead of trying to impress others. With his computer-wiz skills, he became a very successful hacker and cyber criminal. He would then use the dirty money, this new profession brought him, to tackle the thorn in his side, that had haunted him all his life: His lack of strength and height. By building a cybernetic suit of armor for himself, Longicorn used modern technology to claim what nature had denied him. He went with a beetle theme for it. Partly as an in-joke on his profession ( creating bugs ), but mostly to get back on his tormentors, who had always made fun of his name. Now they would learn to fear this "bug-eyed freak", so he told himself.
Today, all suited up, Trevor Longicorn, Jr. has ceased to exist. The supervillain BugByte has taken his place.
A physically intimidating cyber criminal, BugByte loves nothing more than causing chaos in the world wide web. Especially when he can torment and "financially squash one-percenter vermin". Sometimes his crimes are almost Robin Hood-like in nature, taking ill-gotten money from business moguls and give it back to the "little people", they screwed over. However, these illegal heroic deeds are few and far between. Mostly the people he targets are only scum in his own eyes. Wanting to "humble the system", BugByte sometimes causes stock market crashes or other online catastrophes of the same magnitude, just because he can. He always boasts that a computer with a working internet connection is a lethal weapon in his hands.
Under the menacing suit of armor hides a damaged young man, who feels that the world will never respect him, so he lives by the mantra:
"If they won't love me, then they shall fear me!"
However, the part of him that wanted to be a superhero, is still there. Deep down he is still craving for appreciation, respect and sympathy, maybe even love.
All things, no human being should have to crave for.
And here is the newest member of my Rogue's Gallery
BugByte belongs to me!

I was thinking of the Guyver too, although only as an influence - not a direct copy of course - and his background is very different. An interesting villain - who are you planning on having him clash with?

Thanks, man
Well, he will clash with A.N.G.E.L.S., maybe even the Fallen A.N.G.E.L.S. at some point.
As for the backstory, I wanted to make him something, many people here could relate to.
A nice guy gone bad and bitter, having lost the battle, many of as have fought or are still fighting.
He's maybe even more a victim than his victims are.
I wanted to create a villain, people could root for to see the light and slay his demons.

His helmet reminds me of Megalon's head vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/g…
Perhaps he'll be reformed one day

Megalon, oh yes, I've seen that movie!
He wasn't the inspiration for this, though. But maybe that's what felt so familiar about it.

And his belt looks like something from the Big Bad Beetleborgs (now that's a dated and obscured reference I didn't think I would bring up )

LOL - Boy, do I hate kid superheroes! Even as a kid I did
I guarantee you, the belt was doodled together freestyle, with no references or inspiration whatsoever.

I think it's safe to say that he'll be "bugging" a lot of people.
The design is really cool and I like the backstory!

Thanks. I had this character in mind for a while, but just recently completed the design for his armor.
Also made him more than just a cyber criminal.
As for his backstory, I wanted a villain the people could identify with.
Many of us have been through similar situations in life and wanted to give up many times.
Those who keep going, might sometimes wonder why and for what.
His backstory is for all those who wonder what might happen if someone loses themselves in such negativity and just gets angry at the world and loses sight of everything.
This is why you don't go there! Be stronger than BugByte was
