Well, due to popular demand, I finished this.
I hope you like what I did with it...I kinda made it cel-art like. with her in the foreground, heavily painted, and the background painted and blurred to fuck.
So yeah. I used a reference photo from a movie site, zoomed into make detail, and just painted. Added the colour to her hoodie, the little dagger (edit - it's a motherfucking katana, I forgot) at the side of her head, and coloured her hand. Then just refined shit in Photoshop, blurring, smudging and touch ups.
Anyway, yeah. whatever. ^_^
UPDATE: I've fixed up her hair and her hand. Gary said I'd be good in fixing the hand, giving it more detail. Dunno if I've done that.
Then blurred more, edited contrast in lineart. thx for all the favs you people

Does the background distract you? Or would you like to see it sharper? the photo I painted this from had a blurry background, I just wanted to give it a sense of realism.

Wow. You really take the background for granted when it's in minimized mode. At full view, I can really see the attention to detail you put. I can't do blurry backgrounds for shit (it's harder than detailed stuff).
Really nice effect with everything. Got the photo focus thing down pat.
Yeah. Maybe I should comment on the foreground since you probably spent the most friggin time on it

*whistle* well the face looks perfect and the hand too. Her eyes are beautiful. I'm not usually for strong black lienart (though I use it all the time) but you really knew where to put it and where not to. Like, not on the hair.
Also, the folds of the jacket are awesome.
The blade of the katana can use a little sharpening, I know it's out of focus but it's simply not clear to convey meaning (like that fucking made sense). the tip especially is too blurry.
Still, this is a great piece, I'll say again. Off to see your gallery.

lol, I was thinking of making the outline flesh coloured, but then I thought, that'd look a bit funny, so I thought hell, why not leave the outline black, it'll give it a sort of comic book feel to it.

Wow that is just too cool for school. The blurred background really brings the bride in nice and clear. It frames the main focus very well. I like the clean look of this piece. Not overdone and not underdone either. Some sweet, sweet eye candy.

You've improved so much. The textures are just right. You're getting REALLY good with hair and fabrics. Love that little highlight on her cheek to DEATH.

firstly the detail...is just fabulous...especially on her hair...
i think you've managed to capture the detail on her robe down perfectly, it really does capture the light and the texture of the robe, giving it that silky feeling. tones on her skin are just about perfect lozz, looks so realistic. i really do love the way you've given it the perception of depth, its a touch which isn't used much, and you've used it spectacularly

The effect you have created is great ! The blured backgroud with the high detailed forground makes it contrast nicely. Looks really professional too. Nice work.
