Here's a character design sheet for a new Breakout Stars character, BINARI.

She starts of as a A.I. computer on board Captain Craas' ship with only her head shown. One day, when the ship got caught in a cosmic storm, a iightning bolt brought her from the computer screen and into tangible being (hence the body.). The bolt also granted her other abilities such as flight, shapeshifting, projectail energy blasts, and telekinetic control of technology.

Designwise, Its a rebranded version of the Flexus OC. www.deviantart.com/breakoutclu… but made to appear more cybernetic than alien. I didn't know whether to have her as a robot or just a computer programe like HAL 9000, but in the end, I decided to go with her making a leap from computer to a solid energy being so she can interact with other characters.

In the story, BINARI is a neurotic and curious computer entity who wishes to walk amongst physical lifeforms instead of watching them on her side of the many screens on the ship. She has the misfortune of obeying orders from the inept Captain Craas and his pretentious niece Judy, both of whom she finds unbearable to work with. While the Captain and most of crew just see her as some kind of a machine, the ship's outsider Artie O'Ryan is the only one who treats her like a person. Whenever BINARI wasn't doing anything, She'd visit Artie, sharing stories and joking around.

Now here's something new I recently added to the story....

When the ship was trapped in a terrifying cosmic storm, the whole crew was forced to evacuate. The Captain tries to leave himself, but is bound by the responsibility of going down with the ship. In a desperate move to save himself, he names someone he deems useless enough to die with the ship in his place. Artie O'Ryan becomes the unlucky candidate and was left handcuffed in the bridge. BINARI tries to stop Craas from abandoning Artie, but he smashes her screen before fleeing with the rest of the crew. The storm grows worse, and a massive lightning bolt strikes the ship. However, instead of vaporising the ship, it sends it into warp speed, far across the universe. Meanwhile, the bolt's energy absorbes the sparks from BINARI's busted screen and brings her to life, complete with a glowing physical body. When the ship slowed down, she frees Artie. After so many questions, the new reluctant captain and his cybernetic first mate come to terms with what happened and attempt to get back home. Eventually they are joined by Delta and her gang and so on.
