Today is the day of his death. The saddest thing that it's really THAT day. (in anime)Though I'm not really in DN mood, I felt I have to do something for my darling. :c
I especially loved to paint the blood and the sky. I hope you will like it!

A very good piece! Β I especially like it since it represents my second favorite conclusion to anything so well. Β I loved how throughout the series Light seemed like this cool, collected guy, but, in the end, he showed that he really was immature and hated to lose. Β I also dug how very clear it was that Light was just a crazy serial killer with a warped moral code. Β Light went on how his crusade was selfless or justice, but, in all reality, he only did it to kill the boredom. Β To give him something to do that was worthy of his intellect. Β I especially liked how Light ended up in a puddle of blood and dirty water in pain(And no, not because I'm as morbid as that sounded...), since when you go on about how you're going to become God, that's where you should end up. Β Whether or not someone believes in a God, the word carries a title that means one is infallible, perfect, and Light was far from perfect. Β Also, on the whole sides things, my answer is obvious. Β I'm on Matsuda's side.

In the anime, I felt... pity for him. I feel like he had actually realized his defeat in the end, unlike int he manga where he just... went crazy.

To be honest I think that Light was a great character weather he was evil or not, he was truly interesting to watch and Light had his quirks as well but his quirks just weren't as weird as L's. Light started out by killing criminal's which I thought was interesting and then when L was added the series became a battle between the two of them AND fans. DN fanatics chose sides just like people did in the anime, and as they followed the game of wits in the show they talked to other fans about who they thought was better and why. Now weather people like Light or not even they should somewhat admire his intelligence in the show and anime because sometimes he got the better of both L and Near, Though you can either agree or disagree with his way of thinking. Another fantastic thing about L and Light was they never told you which one was the antagonist and which one was the protagonist, they let you choose who was right and who was wrong and showed negatives and positives for both sides. But in the end it was Light who had lost and though the show ended, the discussion about who was right lives on.

I think that was a really judicious opinion, I like it. And I think these things similarly. I prefer Kira's side, but I do accept the L's fans way of thinking too. It was amazing to watch how unpredictable this story is. Kira is an unique character, just like L. Exactly, there was no black or white, that's why this story was really realistic and it's just simply impressive...
And indeed, the discussion lives on.

I remember his anime death day. It's kind of weird that it's today, eh?
But finally, I get to see some good Light fanart- sadly, that's rare nowadays.
RIP Light. I only agreed with his intention to kill criminals, not rule the "new world" as a god or something. I'd prefer to stay a vigilante. He could've led the agents and task force off his trail. Realistically, it would be insanely hard to profile someone like Kira. And criminal profiles aren't very accurate in themselves. ...I guess DN followed the CSI effect, too, huh?
Still, I think Light's death (either version) had more emotion in it than L's did- although lots of fans flipped out over the latter. They knew L was going to get killed sooner or later, right?

L is one of the most over rated characters in the series. The only reason you guys like him is for his quirks, not his ethics, morality or problem solving skills. It's annoying.

Actually the only reason why I ever started liking him was because I admired his intelligence. Ever since he first appeared, the manner in which he used and thought out every type of method to stop Light and figure out more about who Kira was, it was intreguing and made me want to reconsider the manner of discovering facts by using many new methods.
The quirks were just an added bonus.
I would have liked Light too, if it wasn't for the fact that he was twisted and let his power get to his head.
So before you spurt out assumptions and accusations, make sure you have all of your facts straight.
That is why you would never make a good detective.

As much as I sided with L in the beginning I can stll see why he did it all, and how his dream was corrupted. May he rest peacefully in the MU, the Shinigami Realm or wherever he ended up.

Out of curiousity how did you prefer Light's end, in the anime or manga?

I prefer the anime version. I think it's much more "acceptable" than in the manga. How about you?

I found the anime had a better touch to it, as it kind of shows us the repercussions of Light's actions, as we see him slowly close his eyes from his ironic heart attack, Misa standing over the building where she'll kill herself because of him, and in the anime Mikami actually did kill himself.
In the manga it's more a violent struggle as his world falls apart. Moreso as he's screaming in the last seconds of his life how he doesn't want to die and the horror on his face when it happens.
Both are well executed but I prefer anime as well

I was so angry and sad when Light died! He started out wanting do good and then the death note fucked him up, I guess he is a perfect illustration of the saying ''The road to hell is paved with good intentions.''
