Description

Commission for Purple Duck games.

The Jakulus dragon is an ugly swamp-dwelling beast. The females are massive, dragon-like beasts upward of 30 feet long. The males are tiny snake-like parasites about the size of a house cat. They huddle in swarms under the protection of the female.

The two in this picture are not to-scale.

Why bother making one so much bigger? The males would be larger (but not like this gap) if they were reptilian. Just look at crocodiles. Did some feminist witch make this or something?

Because it's fantasy. My clients' intent was to create a dragon with a bizarre and interesting sexual dimorphism.

There are real animals that have the same sexual biology. Anglerfish males are nothing but tiny parasites that attach to the comparatively massive and ferocious female fish, before impregnating her and then being absorbed through her skin and digested. I'm pretty sure real-life anglerfish weren't the invention of a "feminist witch".

Yes, but those are fish, not reptiles. It's just freakish to see snakes act parasitical to dragons, and with a gender difference as well. Of course, if this wasn't your idea, I should say that to whoever commissioned it, I suppose.

Do you know what's more freakish than that? Reptiles that are 30 feet long, fly on giant demon wings, and breathe fire.
It's fantasy. Fantasy is about exploring ideas that can't exist in real life. You don't need to take it so personally.

Those 30 foot long reptiles would be very cool to see, actually. Not so freakish. A bit like a Pteranodon with four legs.

I still think the snake-dragon thing is nasty.

Even dragons looked pretty weird on some medieval paintings
