So, pretty much everybody's seen the latest My Little Pony incarnation, right?Well, if you're a fan, you're probably rather painfully aware of how much the toys don't really look like the ponies they're supposed to represent?
Anyway. Rainbow Dash is my favorite character on the show. And she probably has the most inaccurate toy of the bunch. So, I decided to fix her. This is how Rainbow Dash SHOULD look. I customized her myself. She is re-haired with all her own original hair, except the red, which was too short for me to re-use. So I got some "Pomme d'Amour" Dollyhair, which was almost a perfect match to the original red, and used that instead. I also touched up the pinkish-maroon in her irises and reshaped the eyelash line to look more like Dash and less like Fluttershy, and tried to give her that "determined" look. I also had to touch up all the white on her, in her eyes and on her cutie mark. The decapitated Dash head there (which will belong to my ponysona) is there for comparison.
So, fillies and gentlecolts, I'd say this is at least 20% cooler, wouldn't you?
No, she isn't for sale. And I don't really have plans to mod and sell them because this took a lot of time and I have a real job and a life and other hobbies.
Lauren Faust is one of the few people that I would GIFT one of these girls to, though, for making such an awesome show. She's free to ask for one at any time.

Why does Hasbro have to greedy bastards to never make their characters look exactly from the shows, like what they did to Princess Celestia and made her toy-self look pink?!

I dunno. I guess Hasbro have the weird idea that they can't or shouldn't make toys that appeal to all ages (at least by virtue of their ACCURACY, if nothing else)??

YES. I'd say the whole reason I haven't run out and bought a G4 RD is her hair is really thin and crappy. v.v; This is perfect! I'd buy her at the TRU in a heartbeat!

Rainbow Dash the toy as she comes in package doesn't have THIN hair, necessarily... I've been working on modding a couple of other RD baits and some of them have actually had hair that was surprisingly lush and thick. It's just... way the hell too long, unkempt, and tangles really easily. 
Not to mention that it's all the wrong colors in the wrong places, mostly...

Oh really now? Interesting. Maybe it's the way the tail is haired, gives me the impression it's very thin. Maybe it's just the plug size.

Well, I will say that the factory tail is a LITTLE thinner than I would like on most of these toys, for the sake of KNOWING that I have enough hair... I certainly didn't have any blue left over, and the new tail isn't much bigger than the original. But the factory tail doesn't have plugs like the head. It's just one skein of (in Dash's case) mixed hair that's folded in the middle, clamped and set in a metal washer to keep it from pulling through the hole.
I've been sort of able to eyeball the toys to get what I want (like thicker hair, or make sure the eyes are even and the cutie mark is printed nicely (if that's what I want)), some of the time... there is some random chance involved.

Yeah, I know, right? It's so dumb, Hasbro could easily DOUBLE their sales of Rainbow Dash if they just made her look right!
I thoroughly encourage modding and would love to see others' work, especially if it means increasing their inherent Pony Awesome Factor.

Now see, THIS is more like it! I can't stand how their manes and tails are so poofy and all over the place. And that original head may work for someone like Fluttershy, but not The Dash.

This is freaking awesome! I can't stand when a toy doesn't look like the show it's supposed to come from. I can't stand how Princess Celestia is pink >.< I plan to get one and repaint it. LOL

yeah, I don't get it... it really didn't take any extra hair. Actually, it used LESS hair than the original toy, when I added all the hair amounts together... I had some left over. You'd think that Hasbro would have been all about saving the money........
