Terry Nation, inventor of the homicidal pepperpots tried to get a Daleks TV series going in the late sixties. A script was written, but was thought lost, until a copy turned up in the estate of the late John Nathan-Turner.Dr Who Magazine asked me to do 4 or 5 illustrations to depict some scenes from the story. Jean Marsh and Ed Bishop had been already cast as the leads, before funding fell through on the series, and I took the liberty of using the likeness of Stuart Damon for the android character Mark Seven, as he was in the UK at the time working on The Champions, for ITC.

Finally i get to thank the artist who did this beautiful illustrations. I knew Ed Bishop very well. (i still miss him a lot)it was part of his career that he never mentioned much. When i first saw these images in the Doctor Who Magazine i was blown away by them. They really brought back strong memories of MY Dalek mania in the 1960s and 70s.
The inclusion of Stuart Damon as Mark Seven was truely inspirational.

Amazing work.
If only this had happened there might be several Dalek spin-offs by now. We might be onto Daleks - The The Next Generation, or Daleks in Andromeda, or maybe there's just be a big reboot and they'd start the movie franchise anew.

Great pic. I saw Stuart Damon on a documentary recently. He hasn't aged much considering, he looks a lot like Trevor Eve now I thought.
