That is technically the most muscular woman I've ever seen out of Ed. Then again, I love Ed's style. I approve.

I have to say that I'm enjoying her current series. Yes, I know, she hasn't hulked out yet. But this current series strikes me more as a self-contained transition. A transition from Jen nearly killed, showcasing her new circumstances, and shows her getting ready to deal with what she's become and overcoming her fear.
Also, I do agree that this series gives Jen some much-needed depth after too long a time being played strictly for comedy and fanservice.

I actually like the direction she hulk is going in. While it is a huge departure from her original character and way too sudden a change, I believe that it shows a little bit more depth to a character that was frankly played as a mixture of comedic relief and fan-service. I like she hulk, she's one of my favorite characters of all time! But she should not be immediately recovering from being put on deaths door like that by Thanos right after he killed War Machine and wakes up to find Bruce Banner, the man she regarded more as a brother than a cousin; who had finally found peace to an extent where he was happy he could get sick, is dead by the hand of one of her former lovers and summarily acquitted, AND couldn't even attend the funeral. That sounds like a legitimate reason to be pissed off and mopey.
One argument I hate for why she shouldn't be so angry is that 'this isn't her first time almost being killed or actually being killed.' So what if it isn't? It's not my first time binge drinking Absinthe and Drain Cleaner, doesn't mean my organs should stop screaming for help or that I have an immunity to injury of any kind. A near-death experience is traumatic and stressful, you nearly died! Or in the case of these heroes, who die every five minutes and give Death herself a hard-time, what must they actually see and experience on the other side each time they die. Are they grateful they came back, because the fate waiting for them sucks for all eternity? Or do they secretly curse being resurrected and deprived of the peace they earned? Who knows?
But it is certainly stressful as hell to go through that repeatedly at any time. Jennifer Walters being the new Hulk admittedly, makes no sense under any circumstance, but Jennifer Walters needs to have more depth to her and her hulk-nature.
At least it's better than an obligatory 're-boot' or what Emma Frost is doing now.

This image is symptomatic of what's wrong with BOTH Marvel and DC now...
a) Marvel in particular is doing the exact opposite of the cinematic universe = DESTROYING their iconic characters IN THEIR PUBLISHING LINE/comics with duplicates and unnecessary legacy characters. IF they were smart they'd stick to the basic, iconic characters but, NO, they frustrate and anger long-time collectors AND drive away potential new readers with characters who are NOTHING like what's been portrayed on screen for 10 years now!
For once, the screen versions of the characters are CLOSER to the original versions that were written consistently between the early 1960s and early 1990s! In the last 15 years in particular, Marvel seems to have forgotten who most of these characters are and basically assigns comics to the buddies of the editors, no experience or knowledge of Marvel history required!
b) Retreat upon retread of every worn-out story- and plotline.
Honestly, do we REALLY need to see another Hulk/Wolverine clash (even if this is "hypothetical only" and with -- BLECHH! -- "Legacy" characters)?
This is why I got TIRED of Spider-Man over 25 years ago! They had ONLY done every major plot from the 1960s AT LEAST four times over by the mid-1980s! Since then, it's probably at least 7-8 times including revisiting the BAD CRAP from the 1980s and 1990s at least 3 times by now!!!
c) Toss out the white guys and insert the girls or perfect ethnic stereotypes instead!
I like Falcon but he's NOT Captain America... He's Falcon, a distinctly different character and was NEVER a good fit within the Avengers. It wasn't the fact that he's black-- there have been fine black characters that fit in well within the Avengers and were part of the team for years -- but he's more of an urban crimefighter, local guy like Spider-Man (Peter Parker). It doesn't make sense to put certain characters (Spidey, Daredevil, Falcon) on teams.
Miles Morales is an okay kid BUT he's a bland character and is aping everything Peter Parker is without being distinctive... RIGHT down to the negative/reverse color version of the Spidey costume... Yeah, REALLLLL original!
He's unnecessary, a complete retread! That's why they killed off Jason Todd over at DC in the 1980s in the first place!!!!
Captain Marvel -- they couldn't make the previous three versions work at Marvel, why do the editors at Marvel think a fourth time will work when the storylines and characterization for this character aren't particularly good! Her title has had HORRIBLE sales since the first run over 10 years ago when they were still calling this character Ms. Marvel (and when she had a much sexier outfit; she looks completely butch in the new outfit to be honest!). And they're gonna base a major motion picture on THAT character??!??!!? Doing a film based on Ant-Man, one of the blander Marvel characters, made more sense!
She-Hulk filling in for her cousin, the ORIGINAL, REAL Hulk... IT MAKES NO SENSE. It was bad enough they replaced Banner with an obnoxious, I'm so perfect kid with a STUPID Big Boy hairdo BUT to make his cousin MOPEY and ANGRY when the character is traditionally known as one of the more upbeat characters in the Marvel Universe AND one of the few that genuinely enjoys her powers just doesn't make sense...! Even in light of recent horrible developments in the Marvel Universe, she was NEVER like her cousin when bad things happened around her. She DIDN'T have his history of verbal and physical child abuse! There were a lot of problems with the recent Civil War storyline (an idea rehashed for AT LEAST the third time in the last decade!!!!) but the way her powers were treated (they seemed to forget she was nigh-invulnerable and a simple rocket unless it's a Saturn V isn't gonna nick let alone cut her skin!) and this business with her suddenly being a weeping willow just doesn't make sense.
But what do I know? I'm only one of the people who used to actually pay money for this stuff until it got REALLY stupid and REALLY didn't make... (I'll give you a hint -- DC was "better enough" that I kept collecting them close to ten years AFTER I'd pretty much given up on Marvel. Right now, I wouldn't recommend EITHER company. They're going through periods where they BOTH suck -- and for a lot of the same reasons.)
I'm not one of the people who only only eyeballs pin-ups online, scratches his balls, and declares this stuff the best thing ever made! I actually cared about storylines and characterlines... I guess I'm in the minority... Must be why both Marvel and DC are just "holding the line" and aren't actually growing in sales significantly. A huge hint of that are price increases... It's not always about inflation. It's usually a sign that the reader base has shrunk enough that they have to gouge the remaining reader base more... They don't even bother to do this by AFFORDABLE fractions of a dollar anymore. They jack things up a full dollar and nobody gets better material for it!
I swear, the comics WERE a lot better when they cost under a dollar! The next price increase, IF there is one after SOMEBODY declares the 32-page pamphlet format STILL viable, will be up to $6 ($5.99 for you people who care about the extra cent!).
I thought it was ridiculous at $2.99... I don't know why people are still buying this shit in 32-page flipbooks you'll glance at for fifteen minutes max unless you're really that slow of a reader. Even a lottery ticket has better returns on fun than a comic book at this point!
