Description I've wanted to do a series of horse myth vignettes for a while--then I decided to punish myself and start with the eight-legged Sleipnir (still not as bad as Uchchaihshravas).  Then, because that wasn't a poor enough decision, I decided to try to do that with an old set of prismacolor markers that I've had since high school.
I seem to enjoy making things difficult.

Prismacolor markers and pencils, and a smidge of micron, on smooth bristol.

Very nicely done!

I've never been able to bring myself to use markers for art - I haven't quite gotten over the all-too-frequent betrayal of my Crayola markers in grade school which would always give out halfway through colouring something lol

LOL I now have to go fishing desperately for some working ones in storage when a 30-kid class tells me "the blues are all out."
Always the damn blues.

lol yes, always the blue ones (and the red ones and the black ones)

I think yellow and orange were the only ones that lasted lol

Truly. Did you know that you can repurpose the color by soaking "dry" markers in rubbing alcohol? Makes for cheap color washes. Really something I would only hand kids to mess with, still satisfying to drain the markers like a color vampire.

I'd heard something about that, but I don't have any markers left to try it out with I don't get along well with wet media at the best of times anyway lol

Equines and Corvids of any type are very worthy subjects and you do just fine rendering them. Personally; I think the commentary associated with this image indicates someone who may just be a bit hard on themselves...   People doing Art and Science need not feel  too bad. I know I don't.

I have a very dry, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.  It is not intended to put myself down (actually I'm a very prideful person and could probably use a smidge more humility), it's just a little snark designed to give anyone who has ever worked with these markers a bit of a laugh--maybe we don't actually hate ourselves, but there is something masochistic about drawing an eight-legged horse with markers.

I'm kind of "old-school" I guess...   But I'll get "Snarky" yet.

Rendering with markers? I'm still trying to master the pen...
