Description
Terra cotta, life-sized portrait of superb model Ric 2010. I think that I will keep it rough looking in keeping with Ric's rugged features. Just finished scooping out his brains and other innards (hollowing out the bust so that it dries properly and lightens it).Related content

I admire those who can creatively yet realistically approach art, and especially when it is in a medium I have little to no practice in. Gorgeous!

It looks like richard Gere.
Don't tell me it's Richard Gere.
It looks great I like all those little cuts he has everywhere. It seems strange at first that a face with some messy parts seems more lifelike, but that's truly it. If it's polished it looks just like a statue or something. But with this it feels like it's alive.

No, certainly not Gere - its a model Ric. I only sculpt busts from life posers. Thank you for visiting, looking and your very nice comment. Barrie

Hello Barrie. I think it is a good idea to koop it looking rough. Because Ric looks like a tough guy. Was he looking you in the eyes while posing?

Thank you Simone. Ric was actually a nice guy, as far as I can tell, but did have rough features which I emphasized. Also when he posed, he was looking more horizontally than I depicted him - but I thought that a slight upward look and rough facial features would go better with the mood of the piece (artistic license, you might say). I admire sculptors, how you work in three dimensions. This piece is impressive.
