Cover art for a forthcoming issue of Jupiter Magazine .The original was in black and white, as it will be printed, but I liked it so much I coloured it anyway.

Very cool. I wouldn't want to run into this robot on a dark night... look at those "eyes". Very menacing.

Thanks, that's interesting. When I was doing the piece, I wasn't thinking of the robot being aggressive or scary - more designed for construction or heavy engineering work, like a high-tech piece of earthmoving equipment (hence the yellow colour scheme). But I do see what you mean about the eyes.

Thanks! Quite a bit of the detail is from photographs - I took several pictures of the engine of a friend's car, and a lot of it ended up in the robot's torso section. I had to paint over it a lot to blend it in with the purely imaginary elements, but it still wasn't as much work as it might look.
Similarly, the mechanic started as a photo of myself I had my wife take specially for this picture.
