Description
i do not hold emotions of my own--i live in the hearts of others,
in the spaces between their fingers
and at the soles of their shoes
fitting into the cracks between the sidewalk
for someone else to step on
i'm scattered all over,
spread like the dust from stars
swept into the crevices of your ribs
nestling my home against your bones
i begin to feel what you feel,
the exhaustion of another night gone stale
and the way your broken heart beats out the blues
but forgets the rhythm
there is nothing in here that beats for me--
i see your pain, and i cry.

This is lovely as it stands. I don't necessarily agree with what someone else suggested about the intro.
I had to look up what an empath was because I'm ignorant and don't know. That's a really interesting thing though (I can't believe I never knew it existed and had a name), and definitely the perfect sort of thing to write a poem about.
I liked the image of the narrator being stardust spread everywhere, even inside the person they share emotions with.
"and the way your broken heart beats out the blues
but forgets the rhythm" My favorite line.

It's not an easy way to be, I think. It's a lot of...relying on others to feel. In a sense.

I think your poem portrayed that well.
Yeah, it would be difficult for me because all I've ever known is myself and I have difficulty expressing even my own emotion sometimes.

I think this is a very beautiful piece. You use tone very well to make this, not necessarily sad, but more like empty. Although, perhaps your stanzas are a little off. The first line should really be part of the first stanza and the first stanza should be split into two because there is a transition between feelings within it. But, I really do love the piece ^-^

Empty is what I was trying to get out, so I'm really glad it came through.
Being that was is almost very emptying. You rely on others to feel.
