He wrote a fantasy book series called the Discworld series. It's a humorous, quirky take on traditional fantasy. The series follows the world as a whole so there really is no running story but there are individual runs of books about the same groups of characters. If you have time to read it the first book in the series is The Colour of Magic, however the best starting places for the series are probably Guards Guards (which is about policemen) Going Postal (which is about conmen) or Wyrd Sisters (which is about witches)

I just found out about this through Derpibooru.  I admit I have never read the Discworld books.  But Terry Pratchett accomplished great works.  He will be sorely missed the world over.  Ponaw's idea is good: I might read the Discworld series myself to honor his memory.   First Leonard Nimoy and now Terry Pratchett.

RIP Terry Pratchett
You've taken death's hand and she's led you through the door. . .

I hate to be a dick about this but could you change "she's led" to "he's led" just because Death in the discworld books was male.

Oh, sorry about that! I've never read the Discworld books, so I must have unconsciously been thinking of Death from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman series. ((Certainly a Death I wouldn't mind seeing when I crossover. . .))

Apparently Pratchett received letters from fans for years saying that they hoped that when they died the Death of the Discworld was there to collect them.

I finished "Good Omens - The nice and accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" the day 'fore he died.
I am going to read the Discworld series at some point. If nothing to honour his memory.

My advice is to start with Guards Guards or Going Postal because the Ankh Morpork City Watch and Moist Von Lipwig are the two most addictive of the discworld sub series

Go for Guards! Guards!,that one should be easier to hop into without any prior knowledge I think.

Mort is also a good choice

I couldn't believe it when I read the news of Sir Terry Pratchett's passing. Perhaps I wouldn't have been as surprised had I known that he had early-onset Alzheimer's disease, but regardless of cause the world has suffered a great loss.

Thank you for creating this to honor him.

Well, first time for everything.  The first book in the "main" branch of this branching series is "The Color of Magic".  Here's a diagram detailing how some of Pratchett's other books connect to each other: www.lspace.org/books/reading-o…

Click on your language (English, I'm assuming, but there are others like German and Spanish) and you're good to go!

Of course, you don't have to read them at all if you don't want to.  In that case, just ignore this.
