Description Here's my newly reorganized and cleaned-off desktop - I've finally gotten used to Libraries in W7, and I'm a fan. See my gallery for icons etc. Uses zero background processes (and therefore resources) besides "Skinny Clock." See fullview for crisper detail. Yes, netbooks have small screens. Yes, my netbook is my primary computer, and yes, all graphics were created by running photoshop on it.

Wow, you get a big round of applause from me by using PS on a netbook.

This has a very nice look to it, might have to try it out!

Either you have a really large monitor or deviantart is being glitchy. I hope it's the latter, at least for my computer's self-esteem.

Yep, it was a "glitch" now it's a thumbnail and I can enlarge it, but u can't compare a desktop computer monitor and a netbook screen.
BTW which one do u have? I wanna Google it.

It's an Asus EEE 1008HA, with a 10.1 inch-diagonal 1024x600 screen. The whole package is so preposterously thin and light I can almost forgive its laughable flash video performance.

how can u change the icons in the taskbar? great shot

For shortcuts, [ right click > properties > shortcut > change icon ], for the taskbar you right click on the program's name in the jumplist, then refresh somehow (like flipping between 16 and 32 bit color, it refreshes the icon cache).

Whoa - which theme are you using and what's that nice bar on the top?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

brsev In reply to MaskedJudas [2010-01-02 19:39:20 +0000 UTC]

The bar at the top is just photoshopped onto the wallpaper, the visual style is Soft7 by AP-Grafik (see my favorites).

MaskedJudas In reply to brsev [2010-01-02 20:45:19 +0000 UTC]

That's Soft7? Oh, i guess it's the non-glass version or? And how did you got the icons on that bar on the top as they are?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

brsev In reply to MaskedJudas [2010-01-02 23:04:29 +0000 UTC]

I turned off transparency and use my icons, yeah. The top bar icons are just on the desktop, with their labels replaced with unicode blank characters.

is there a particular process to removing the labels on the icons and using unicode blank characters?

excellent design by the way!

I see. And that Library thingy? Photoshop? I may take over that idea with the icons there. Oh and what's with the D and G labels for your drives? Are they with your icons?

I love the amazing simplicity! Its what I strive for! But I have failed so far.

Thanks man! Don't worry, artists and designers are never really satisfied with their work, always trying to one-up themselves.
