The Flag of the Union of Galactic Proletarian Republics, an interstellar Great Power of the Equusian Sphere in the Fifth Age of Known History, the preeminent member of the Third Proletarian Interstellar and the leader of the galactic proletarian revolution.

Although the format of Proletarianism varies significantly across the TPI and even within the UGPR due to the sheer diversity of wildly different member species, civilizations, organisations and individuals across millions of star systems, the flag of the UGPR reflects its origins from the lost Pony/Enigmaretian colony world of Mir and the century-long Mirian Revolutionary Era. The leading tendency of proletariat revolution of Mir was Plenary Proletarianism (which most closely resemble the little-known movement of Council Communism from Second Age Tellus/Equus), and the traditional symbol of Plenary Proletarianism reflects its doctrine of democratic workers’ councils arising in factories and municipalities are the natural form of working-class organisation and vehicle of revolution. On the flag, the now iconic proletarian Star of Revolution is surrounded by two rings of six trapezium bars which can be interpreted as seats of a workers’ plenary council, all equal in size to represent the egalitarian organisation and status of all members. The appearance incidentally draws vague resemblances of a solar system or a galaxy, reflecting the interstellar/galactic nature of the union in both scope and ambition.

Naturally variations exists in account for the differences of fellow proletarians of the Union, be they Equusian or non-Equusian, ranging from colours used to shapes. Regardless, the flag and the symbol it represents had become widely respected and feared across the galaxy in equal measure. For those who yearn for liberation from exploitation and oppression, it is a symbol of hope and deliverance with the promise of a better tomorrow. To those who facilitated said exploitation and oppression, it is a symbol of terror and despair with its promise of retribution for their crimes against the proletariat should the Union and the Third Interstellar stand triumphant across the known universe.

I only figured out how it should look when I was researching Council Communism in preparation for potentially elaborating the UGPR for the Fifth Age. The flag’s design draws inspiration from some of the designs for the flag of Council Communism I found online. Credit where they are due.
