Description
Flag of the Overdom of Coltatia aka the Overdom, the dominion of Overmare, the greatest supervillain of the Second Age and arch-enemy of both Metamare, the Paragon from Beyond and Silversmith, the World's Smartest Pony. Will have an entry on the country itself eventually."The dreaded flag of the Overdom of Coltatia - better known as simply the Overdom - had underwent various changes in designs over the course of more than two centuries of the state's recorded existence in the Great Wars Era, but all variants maintained the key features established in the the most iconic and used design, flown predominantly in the territories under the Overdom's firm control but also hoisted across the world at times the Overdom and its allies and forces nearly succeeds in world conquest, perfectly encapsulating both the character and ambitions of the one who founded and ruled the domain upon her takeover of the Independent State of Coltatia at the end of the Second Great War, the fallen 'Wonder-Genius of Marerope' turned hegemonic mastermind Velika Volja - aka Overmare, widely-considered the greatest super-villain of the Second Age.
Every aspect of the flag were chosen for symbolic reasons and carefully designed to facilitate the imagery the Overdom intends to project to the world. The three primary colours of the Overdom flag, for example, are deliberately darker in tone than many other national flags for purposes psychological intimidation, creating an impression of dark menace which serve to weaken and undermine the resolve of hostile opposition, yet also serve to enhance the morale of their supporters with an impression of great power, one able to (and had) legitimately challenge even the military, economic, technological and political superpowers of the 'Great Wars Era'.
The Overdom's determination, passion and strength is symbolized by the flag's dark red colour, in reflection of Overmare's infamously indomitable willpower, fiery conviction and relentless resolve, willing to do whatever it takes, however long it takes, to ultimately impose her vision of order and structure the world despite the many setbacks and opposition from the world powers and heroic forces that stand in their way, and perhaps appropriately it is set at the left side of the flag to demonstrate this driving force serves as the foundation of the Overdom's national ideology and mission.
The dark green colour's meaning is less well known, but is believed to be representative of growth and endurance, something which the Overdom had steadily achieved over the course of its existence, with very brief periods of global supremacy and slightly longer periods of retreat. Outside the Overdom however, it has also been associated with Overmare's more villainous character traits, such as her unfettered ambition for power over all (even for a well-intended if extreme cause) and her obsessive envy against her arch-rival Silversmith, the World's Smartest Pony.
Purple had long been associated with power, authority and nobility in many cultures, often of a legitimate nature, and it comes to no surprise that the Overdom placed its dark purple band at the right side of the flag, to represent what they believe to be a legitimate right to rule the world by virtue of their leader and their nation's vision and capabilities, which they are convinced would ensure a golden age of peace, prosperity and progress upon Ponykind and ensure their future power and preeminence throughout the rest of time and space.
The central emblem, embrozened in black, stands out in the foreground of the flag. The laurel wreaths that flank the central globe gives an impression of both imperial power and triumph, which reflects both Overmare's character in the aspect of being a modern-day conqueror and that of the Overdom as an advanced, modern day empire, in the same vein of old Roamane Empire of classical antiquity. The central globe is believed to be a simplified but cleanly depicted reference to the (rumoured) Mark of Overmare herself - showing a perfect, orderly and utopian world, resting upon a firm and powerful hoof - that Velika Volja had psychosomatically materialized on the day her father had died and she vowed to fulfill her promise to her parents and herself to become great and make the world a better place, no matter what it takes.
Alternatively, it is also believed the emblem was designed to be an jab at the flags of the Concord of Nations and its replacement Assembly of Nations international organization, which also included laurel wreaths in their respective imagery. Having considered all other world powers and authority to be ineffectual and corrupt, doomed to eventually lead Ponykind to ruin in their short-sighted pettiness, it stands to reason that the Overdom's leadership would consider their use by any other power but them to be pretentious.
Variants of the flag would keep the primary colours but replace the central emblems with other symbols, ranging from the various military emblems representing the army, navy, airforce and space forces, those with emblems of other supervillains individuals and groups allied or subordinate to Overmare in the Overdom, various Overdom-related organizations both public and hidden across the world. Regardless, over the course of the Second Age, the flag of the Overdom would serve as a symbol of fear by many who trembled at the idea of domination under Overmare's ruthless genius and unquestionable power as she sought to reorganize and 'refine' the world in her own image, while many of those who came to support her saw it as a symbol of righteousness and necessity, seeing her firm but fantastic hoof to be Ponykind's only hope for utopia and greatness in the face of a hostile universe and their own flawed nature..."

Nice!
The design definitely works and does have an air of menace to it.
I love how each aspect of it has a symbolism assigned to it. Which overall fits Overmare to a T, given yeah, that's something she'd do.
Also like if you take the main symbol itself, it wouldn't look all that menacing, but the color scheme behind it adds that air.

Glad to hit the mark! Many people designed on the face of what's cool, but I reckoned that everything that makes a good flag should mean something for it to be there in the first place. Glad to hear that it definitely give the aura of menace and power that I had wished to invoke in the design!

Now to think up her arch-enemy Silversmith's Cutie Mark and the symbol for his mega/giga-corporation Silversmith Solutions. I am thinking about something like a stylized cerebellum in silver. Or a lightbulb. Or a collection of silver gears in a brain-like formation in silver, or like a traditional depiction of an atom...

Well, given he's a benevolent Lex Luthor, perhaps something that compliment's Metamare's symbol?
Since Lex's normal symbol is an egotistical twist on Superman's (a stylized L).
