PART I - PRELUDE AND THE WORLD WAR

And now for something completely different.

Alternate History had and remains a passion of mine - the present state of the world makes me frequently question whether or not things could had been different, had events gone differently in the past. Most of the time I had been spent reading about them on various Althistory forums and watching Althistory Youtube videos. Now, with a sudden bout of inspiration, I felt incline to give it a whirl myself.

Here I attempt to present a plausible scenario where, had circumstances been different, a world revolution as speculated by Karl Marx and looked forward to by various Communist leaders throughout the 20th century actually happens. An astute reader who are well-read about alternate historical timelines and works could notice I draw many inspirations and references from various other authors and their scenarios for this part, mixed together with some of my own ideas and speculations.

And yes, the title is a homage to "Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg" and other spin-off works.

One thing to note: I notice how a sizable majority of alternate historical timelines about Communist revolutions depicts the outcome as eventually turning dystopian, with some worlds turning almost ludicrously bad. The best exception I could think of is "Reds! " by Jane Hill on AlternateHistory.com, depicting a successful Socialist/Communist revolution in the USA, which serve as one of my main inspirations for this work. The general reason, as frequently repeated in the west, is that Socialism and Communism are too 'Utopian' and would inevitably become perverted by Human nature into totalitarian hellholes.

I suppose it cannot be helped - virtually all Socialist/Communist states in Real Life did turned into ugly totalitarian regimes - which eventually fell apart - and the West had drummed it into their societies heads for years that Communists are bad guys who would invade their homelands and do evil Communist things over the course of the Cold War.

I, however, disagrees with this 'common assumption', not necessarily because I am Communist myself (At least according to my 8Values rating), but because when I examine Communism as originally conceived by Karl Marx and other early revolutionaries and ideologues, it turned out that it was significantly more democratic and anti-authoritarian in conception.

Historically communist revolutions came RIDICULOUSLY close to succeeding in various states during the 20th century and were only prevented from triumph by bad luck, idiots and other circumstances beyond anyone's control. And where they become perverted in implementation, it is again due to circumstances faced by the Communist leaders (often alone and surrounded on all sides by hostile capitalist/'reactionary' powers) that prevents them from being properly implemented. And again, the quality and character of the Communist leaders in question (and also WHO specifically gets to try it) play a major role. There are also many different tendencies of Socialism and Communism that are not even well-known, let alone have a chance to shine.

And of course, the 'Appeal to Nature' argument is inherently fallacious when there had never been any evidence of a solidly defined, immutable Human nature and there is as much evidence to suggests that Communism comes naturally to Humans as there are evidence against it (e.g. If Humans are incapable of selflessness, kindness, generosity and solidarity, our species would not had survived to the present day simply through its capacity for selfishness, cruelty, greed and discord, especially given we evolve as cooperating social animals).

So here, I buck the 'common assumption' for the sake of novelty and hope to present a timeline which Communism triumphs and the result isn't dystopian. Nor would it be perfect, either - it will be presented as what it simply is: an ALTERNATE historical progression of events, when and where things are simply DIFFERENT.

Part II will come when it comes. May be long, maybe not. Chances are it would definitely come.
