This is my interpretation of that historic day in 1967 when Roger Patterson, with super 8 movie camera in hand, became the only person in human history to capture undeniable, indisputable, absolutely positive scientific evidence of a live Bigfoot on film.Related content

Interesting. Let me share with you my personal theory: I am convinced that Sasquatch may have been some smaller, more advanced descendent (or relative) of Gigantopithecus, that evolved or mutated into an upright-walking primate. I believe that it was probably already dying out and scarce in number during the 1700's and 1800's (There are just too many widespread Native American stories about the creature from that 200 year period to completely deny its existence - and white men - who have always leaned toward disbelief - were still just getting to know North America in that time to be fully informed). I believe that by the early half of the 20th Century, Sasquatch was becoming increasingly rare, and that by now, it is perhaps already extinct. I believe the Patterson footage may be genuine documentation of one of the last living specimens. I am super skeptical about all "evidence" that has cropped up in years since. Just my personal theory on the matter!

Thanks for your comments. I am a big fan of Grover Krantz, too. I don't think I ever said it was impossible to create a realistic ape suit in that era. I just said the Sasquatch that was photographed in the Patterson footage was not a guy in a suit. If you are familiar with monster-movie history, and the look of ape-type monsters which appeared in movies and TV shows at that time period - and I'm talking about the top-quality ape suits made in Hollywood at that time - they don't look like the Patterson creature.
Bigfoot is real.

Ah, cool. And sorry, I should have been clearer- I didn't mean you specifically I meant other believers seem to say such a suit was impossible at the time. And I see what you mean, thinking about ape suits of the time, alot of them don't appear as realisitic as old Patty does. I've heard that video enhancements showed a zipper on the back but whenever I ask people when and where the enhancements were done I get no reply

As someone who studied film I can assure you, the technology to make a realistic artifical suit did not exist at the time of the Patterson film, synthetic fur, underlying musculature pads, etc were developed much later
The only possible exception is if it was sewn from actual animal hide which is possible but it would be extremely cumbersome, have to be transported into the middle of nowhere on horseback with great care and would need to be done by a taxidermist or leather worker, someone who would need to be sworn to secrecy and commissioning such a suit would not be cheap
It's unlikely a broke, terminally ill ex rodeo cowboy would be able to acquire either one

Easier said than done. Look at all the people that have tried that and come up empty handed. It's even harder finding where the bigfoot would be, since they could probably sense you from a mile away, and can easily blend in to their surroundings. Still, if you do try to catch him, try going to Washington or Alaska.

Have no fear. This mission will be accomplished. Failure is not an option. Maps have been drawn. Equipment and manpower have been assembled. State of the art hunting rifles and ammunition have been purchased - and upgraded. A taxidermist has been hired and is on call. It is only a matter of time before the head of sasquatch is mounted above my fireplace.

The human race can no longer tolerate all the problems Sasquatch has caused us. Besides, it's gotten to the point where it is no longer about science or proving his existence. The only thing left is the glory of the hunt. And to smell the blood of victory.

Excellent drawing here! I have to agree with youu on this, as I am a pretty fair armchair Sasquatch enthusiast myself. All the fakes, I've seen or read about, look just like that...fake. This film, to me, still holds up as real. It just makes more sense for it to be real than faked. I've have to admit to having ridden the fence on this subject quite a bit though, and have had doubts over the years. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and hiked in quite a few forests, and an animal like this is certainly possible. I just would like to see all the naysayers properly put to rest though. That would be sweet for sure! Have you heard of the BFRO website? It's quite intrigueing, and very well done. Might be worth your while, if you feel like it. Have a great one!!!

Great pic,and i have seen the footage so many times on Monster-quest, they have said that it is impossible to fit a human in that Bigfoot, if it was a suit, it is really good, but no one had that good of a suit back then. watch it and you'll understand.[link]

Indeed. It walks with its knees bent the whole time. You can detect muscle movement in the legs. And, no one has produced the costume, or duplicated it, even after 40 years.

I think its funny how scientists/skeptics TRY to prove that that film is a fake. Which is really funny, because you can see definate detail of the muscle movement underneath the hair/fur.

I think it is foolish for ANYONE to try and say that film is a fake. I mean, what's not to be believed about it??? You've got a bigfoot alive and breathing and walking right there in front of you. I mean, HE'S RIGHT THERE! How could you say it was fake? I bet when they see National Geographic movies of lions and gorillas, they probably think those a fake, too. Then you are correct. No matter what I will always believe in Bigfoot, too, because he is real and some day when me and Dave Hartman are old and retired and don't feel like drawing anymore, we are going to venture into the dense forests between Northern California and Southern Canada with tranquilizer guns and a couple of big butterfly nets and we are going to catch that bastard and prove he's real once and for all.
