Description This is a "splash" page from my recent comic book, "Wulf and Batsy". At this point in the story, good old Wulf is basically turning the tide on the angry villagers. It's fun to draw guys getting their faces ripped off.

I've been writing and drawing this comic book series called "Wulf and Batsy" for about 10 years. It concerns the adventures of a ferocious werewolf and a cute female vampire as they wander the earth in search of a place to call home. Along the way they end up in all kinds of battles against other monsters. It is very violent and silly and a lot of fun. People who have bought the books seem to like them, too.

Bad idea for the people to come after the werewolf.

You know..this drawing kinda reminds me of the scene in Stephen King's Cycle of The Werewolf because of the half of the guys face getting ripped off. Do you know what Im talking about? The cop in the car picture in the book? Well, anyways...I love it! As you know, I am a werewolf fanatic.

Heck yeah! Cycle of the Werewolf first came out when I was in the seventh grade, and that book was like my bible for a good year afterwards. I used to just sit and stare at the artwork in that book. It was one of THE major works that made me decide, from a very young age, that Bernie Wrightson was my favorite artist, and that I wanted to be just like him when I grew up! The weird thing is, now, I actually know the man a little bit and I have a difficult time telling him just what a big influence he is on me.

I totally learned how to draw werewolves by studying Bernie's drawings in that book, and watching The Howling over and over again. To this day, whenever I draw a werewolf, I am always trying to live up to those two high watermarks.

This picture reminds me of old movies, before my time especially the classic horrors.

That's the idea, Killswitchfreak. I take that as a huge compliment. Thanks!

Thanks, everybody. I'll try to answer all the questions that came up here. No, I didn't draw this illustration on the computer. This is just a good old fashioned pen and ink illustration on Bristol Board. (For more info on Bristol Board and pen and ink stuff, see the convo that went down on my "Swamp Rot" illustration).

My comic book Wulf and Batsy was published in July 2005 by Chanting Monks Press. I created the characters, wrote the story, drew all the artwork, and did the lettering. The only thing I didn't do was the cover illustration, which was done by Joe Chiodo (cover illustrations by famous artists equal better comic book sales). It's a complete 64-page story and is the first of what I hope will be many books about the characters. Cover price is $5.95, but you can order copies directly from me for an even $5.00. Write to me at bryanbaugh@yahoo.com if that interests you.
