Thanks a bunch for the compliments, and for stopping by. I haven't loaded much lately cause it's all waiting in secrecy for upcoming shows, but I will have new work coming to DA before long. Thanks again!

Feel free to say something negative, too. It won't hurt my feelings

The detail in the green tenticle/goo looks painful

Oh, and that was the best part to do. It was practice for a collection I will exhibit in May. I am planning a 9 piece collection called "Constellation Sensation" that will use the tentacle-octopus-organic-menace thing.

Thanks. I have very mixed emotions about that. I have been asked to illustrate 3 books, but I don't want my art to lose it's 'respect' by manufacturing it for children, you know?

Ironicly its the Parents who lay down the cash to buy Kids books-Its the Parents who read the books and its Parents that nominate Kid lit to high esteem in the literary world...I see Childrens books on the New York Times Best Seller list frequently... Alot of the surreal lowbrow artists go backwards into creating their own publishing of work geared toward kids-and its nearly impossible for them to get publishers interested.....DUDE..Go for it-Dont limit your horizons-because there is no integrity/respect in this art buisness if your work isnt being marketed to its fullest possibilities-- and publishing is a lucrative side buisness....Margret Wise Brown was a good writer of prose- but she was no Bryan Collins!!! Your work appeals to Adults because we relate to the transition of once having minds of hope and wonder-and kids relate because your characters are cool looking and the colors POP..Somethings gunna happen if you agree that you want it bro I guarentee

Thank you, once again, for your wisdom and encouragement. I picture you sitting on top of a great mountain, in a warm cave, waiting for people to come to you with an offering so that you will read their future. Then they leave your presence with their heads hung saying, "Man, he's right. Why didn't I think of that!" At which point they scream, "Hail Dave!" and throw their fists in the air!

Umm-Just sharing what you already know bro-and Im a good luck charm too...and usually people just get their ritches and proceed to follow their path etc-and some just take my ritches and run off!!!haaaa! Wait come back!!!

You certainly capture the spacey feel: )I like the little pocket/pouches on his suit..It's dream like too if that is what you are going for: )

It's cool... but... I don't understand the title X_x why is it good for him not to dream?

bryancollins In reply to SongSprite [2007-11-29 18:59:53 +0000 UTC]

I have a friend named Zach, who hates space exploration. He says we have no business up there. Also, he doesn't remember any of his dreams. So, when I was painting this, I thought that he would find this title humorous. I guess the humor is a little too 'insider', but it fit. Thanks!
