Description
The city of Philadelphia. I took extra care when etching City Hall, as it's my favorite landmark of the city. I documented and posted the progress of this piece on my blog (bryanetch.blogspot.com ), which can be found in the archives (2010).Thanks so much for all the kind words and to those who helped make this my first Daily Deviation!

Patience is probably the most important factor in getting these done. You certainly can't rush through this sort of thing. Thanks so much!

Yeah, I can c why. I'd probably end up hitting the thing on accident, and erase the whole pic. I'd b very ticked...

Yes, it's a regular etch-a-sketch, just like you'd find in the stores. I just spent a lot of time on this one, filling in all the space with buildings and stuff. Thanks!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmnn... that's some serious talent!
I drew Espio the Chameleon and wrote his name in the top corner w/ an etch-a-sketch in one of the isles at WAL-MART once...

I think you may have just inspired me to start a new series of etches.. Guerilla style etch-a-sketching. I'll go into the stores, spend about 15 minutes on a piece, then put it back on the shelf. I'll be sure to snap a picture each time I do it. I'd imagine it would get some fun reactions from random shoppers and employees when they see there's legit art left behind on the shelves. I'm sure they'll all get shaken, but I kind of like the temporary idea of it.
Thanks for the kind words, and the inspiration!

Hey, no prob! That would be sooo cool!
And when I wrote Espio's name, I actually wrote backwards, in a way that would read forward when read without a mirror! (You'd have to be there to see it)

bryanetch In reply to Isabelle-Fake [2011-08-25 14:56:15 +0000 UTC]
They take different amounts of time based upon the detail and difficulty. This Philadelphia etch was probably my most involved and it took me around 25 hours probably.. Hour a night for 2-3 weeks. I did Boston in about 12 hours, and the first NYC etch took me between 5-6 hours (but it's nowhere near as detailed or precise.) I can do pocket portrait etches in about an hour, if it only takes me one try. Sometimes it can take up to 10 tries. Thanks!
