I love the freaky, twisted interpretations of the Beholder. Β Google (TM) "Monster Beholder" sometime and see what you get. Β In the old days (1970's and '80's) all we got was a chitin-pated ball with a big eye and ten, evenly spaced eyestalks.

They're fun as hell to paint. I just wish that wizards/Hasbro wasn't so uppity about letting others use them.

Well, that's what happens when you get the damned lawyers involved. Β I oughta know, too. Β Back before Wizards owned D&D, G. Gygax's company, TSR Hobbies, Inc. didn't used to be that way. Β Hell, they would have just been glad of the publicity! Β It occurs to me that a slight anatomical variation might be enough to take your art out of any possibility of copyright infringement. Β Like adding twisted, misshapen feet and legs dangling from the bottom of the sphere, adding a tail might even be enough.

Yeah reaper miniatures did that. They had some tentacles coming out the bottom and change it up just a little bit. But it still obviously a beholder. I bought one.

This is great! Beholder is so expressive, it seems like it will fly out of the picture now!

Baldur's gate sounds familiar, but I'm not familiar with the boss. I'm glad you like it.

Kinda looks like Stephen King's Langoliers mixed with H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu. Scary teeth like something out of one's nightmares.

It's a Dungeons & Dragons monster, but now that you mention it I can totally see what you mean about seeing the Langaleers in it. Thanks I was going for Lovecraft and scary.
