This is from a book? Dang, why can't it ever be from a game! Where they are playable!

You could probably play this class in kobolds mid-guard campaign setting. I know that kobolds are a playable race in that setting.

I love this kobold. Best first impression I've had from a book in a long while. Loved it so much I had to find somewhere, anywhere, where I could say I really loved it and the rest of the illustrations presented within. Of them all though, this one sits firmly as my favorite. 10/10 kobold

I think this may be the first kobold I have ever seen who is genuinely intimidating.Β

Like the distinctive clothing, it goes a long way to establishing a distinct cultural identity. I still get confused by RPG publisher's versions of kobolds, troglodytes and lizardfolk and what the differences between them are meant to be.

Thanks! Well, culturally, I'm not too sure. I know that kobolds and troglodytes are primarily evil, where as lizardfolk are neutral. I think the troglodytes are the most primitive and brutish, so if I was illustrating that I would try and represented that through the posing and costuming. Kobolds are more sly. Because being so small they have to be. But with kobolds they also deify larger reptiles like dragons and crocodiles and things. So when I illustrate them I like to keep that in mind. Hence the skulls, bones and other wizardly things worked into their costuming.
