ABOUT
Bryne is a classic dragon. He lives in a cave, collects treasures, and terrorizes the locals from time to time. Left to his own devices, he maintains an active lifestyle, hunting and exploring wherever takes his interest. Driven with an insatiable curiosity, he will try and find ways to expand his sphere of territory to give him new areas to explore. Naturally sociable, Bryne welcomes friendly visitors and is enjoys a conversation instead of aggressively chasing off anyone who dares breach his airspace.

Bryne remains active as a distraction from his own thoughts, even though he was taught to make peace with his past, he still struggles to maintain equilibrium within. As such, he tends to keep personal issues with himself instead of sharing. Bryne is prone to being a hot head at times, having an anger which flares up and dies away just as rapidly.
When faced with problems, Bryne is pragmatic in his approach. Tackling tasks head on, he adapts quickly to situations as they arise. Bryne tends to take things at face value before all else - so if someone appears friendly and trustworthy, he will assume that the person is indeed friendly and trustworthy. Respect on the other hand, is something which Bryne gives to those who have earned it.
Bryne tries to be honourable and stay true to his promises, and while he appears aloof and disdainful at times, he is simply trying to make the best impressions to those he meets.

DIET
Carnivorous. Livestock, rodents, fish. Bryne likes to cook his meat occasionally for the flavour. If he is feeling particularly adventurous he will steal entire sheep/goats/chicken from farmers for an extra thrill. Bones are an enjoyable delicacy.
He will eat herbs gathered locally for extra nutrition or for medicine.
He will not eat humans as they do not taste nice and are also not nutritionally rich.

BIOLOGY
Scales are heat resistant to a certain temperature so that he doesn't burn himself with his own fire.
Forked tongue paired with heightened sense of smell helps him while hunting to gauge the direction a scent is coming from. Large nasal cavity for increased surface area of detection cells.
Fingers on his wing hands are primarily used to climb rock faces and cliffsides as an additional gripping platform.
Bones and horns are lightweight and have a hollow lattice structure to save weight.
Wing patterns are used for intimidation or courting displays.
Crest can flex somewhat, depending on emotion. During flight they act as a stabilizer.
Pupil contracts into a slit depending on mood and light levels.
Stripes are an inherited trait from his father, unique to air dragons and air dragon hybrids.

Bryne is a Fire/Air dragon hybrid. Since Fire is a dominant trait, he has full control over his fire side. His inherited Air traits are passive but allow him to fly faster and out manoeuvre other Fire dragons.

ELEMENT
Bryne is a confident Fire user. Liquid fuel is processed by an organ which is jetted out of his mouth at high pressure. Thermal induction causes the liquid to ignite, forming a volatile stream of fire. This is able to be controlled and formed to a degree, to create different types and strengths of fire, ranging from a thick liquid to a fireball.

BACKSTORY
Bryne was born sometime around 350 BCE to a young and proud Fire dragoness named Dagmar, high in the Pennine mountain range in northern Albion (ancient Britain).
His father was a charismatic and handsome Air dragon named Caellum who encountered Dagmar during a migratory flight from Italia. Captivated by her, and she by him, the pair fell passionately in love.
However, it was not to be. An unfortunate fact of the difference between their species meant that Caellum would not stay. Air dragons are destined to migrate and spend most of their life on the wing.
Fire dragons on the other hand mate for life and usually have only one partner, who take turns looking after and raising the hatchling. Fire dragons also live in small communities of nesting grounds, where a handful of families raise their young before they go out into the world.
As such, Dagmar was left heartbroken and furious that Caellum had left, essentially abandoning her to raise Bryne alone. Bryne, like any young person, wanted to explore and play with the other hatchlings. But Dagmar would often take her frustrations out on him in the forms of psychological and physical abuse, pinning the blame of his father's departure onto him.
Bryne spent more and more time away from his mother, choosing instead to spend his time among the other families at the nesting site. Dagmar despised this and punished him by trapping Bryne inside the cave they resided in, and not letting him leave for days. Eventually, Bryne had enough and fled the nesting site for good, flying as far as his wings would take him. Crash landing within another dragon's territory, he passed out from hunger and fatigue.
Bryne woke up within a cave, with food and warmth. An elderly dragon named Adelind took him under his wing, sympathetic to the young dragon's feeble form and set about raising him. Adelind became like a father to Bryne, and taught him as much as he could. Unfortunately, Adelind's time ran out and he passed away peacefully. Bryne honoured Adelind's last wishes and burned his body to scatter his ashes into the ocean. While overlooking the sea, he found a coastal cave that would make a perfect home. This is where he chose to live, and continues to live.
