Personality:
Ever the rascal, carefree and adventurous, impulsive yet clever. He absolutely loves the rush of a good fight, and is always actively looking for worthy opponents, whatever shape they might come in. This old man has a lot of childlike characteristics in his personality, for better or for worse. There’s a strong fiery quality to his eyes and overall aura. It’s never a surprise when others find out he was quite the troublemaker during his young days…. and perhaps still is.
Positive Traits
Out-going; By all means festive, a man that makes himself noticed. Spontaneous, easy-going. Can be often found at the pubs having all sorts of energic conversations and heated debates with strangers. He is a colorful story-teller and loves forcing others to listen to him ramble about the endless feats and battles he’s had throughout the years - although whether these are true or not is up to each judgement. He seems to have little to no sense of personal boundaries, and will be all over anyone that catches his attention.
Humorous; If his years of experience have taught him anything it’s that not everything has to be taken seriously. Adler likes to have fun, and he sees no reason not to. He has a sarcastic, dark type of humour and seems to have a witty remark for anything, at any time. He has a thunderous laughter that can be heard in miles, or above everything in the midst of battle.
Bold, Pragmatic; Always looking for something new, ever the action lover. Not really known for holding back, he’ll step out of his comfort zone if it grants him something he wants. Adler relies heavily on his experience to make decisions, rather than thinking on theoretical alternatives. It’s easier for him to gain knowledge out of a hands on approach than from books and manuals. He seems to know a little bit about everything but often times goes over it in order to have a good time or gain a new experience.
Thrill seeker, Devious, Scheming; Adler thrives in challenges, stress and pressure tend to have little negative effects on him- quite the contrary, he loves a good rush! He’s prone to boredom and hates the routine, which leaves him actively looking for entertainment all around the ship (which he often finds in the form of friendly sparing, usually with his crew). On the negative side, it also means he often tries to avoid dealing with the more boring part of his job, and usually ends up just leaving it to the higher ranks to handle those tasks he doesn’t redeem entertaining enough. He likes to come out on top, and is not above using even the most devious methods - lying, misleading or anything else - to achieve this. He’s mischievous though not nearly as much as he used to be when younger.
Encouraging; Adler more than anyone knows the importance of a leader’s encouragement. He is never short on giving a hard slap on the back or a good comment for a job well done. He’s a believer in second chances, these days more than ever (blame it on the old years), and is aware that talent can come from all places and all backgrounds.
Negative Traits
Proud, Boastful; His sense of pride might go a little bit too over his head every now and again. Adler loves to be in the middle of action and the center of attention- and he does not do well with sharing the spotlight.
Dominant; He has a strong motivation to direct people and circumstances. As a young lad, Adler was very much into overstepping authority, often taking care of things by his own end. Now that he’s on top, he’s not quite sure he likes this quality on others - and has his eye out for anyone that might remind him of his younger self. Crew members are encouraged to speak their mind, but at the end of the day he is the captain - and will probably have little to no tolerance with anyone trying to go over his head.
Impatient; If his many years of experience have failed to teach him something, it's patience. Adler is, and has always been by all means a hands-on, restless type of man. He lives in the here and now, and will much rather hop into action and see quick results than sit around to speculate. He doesn’t really plan ahead, and sometimes fails to see the consequences his actions might have.
Hot-tempered; Related to his impatience. Be it big or small, the moment things stop looking his way, he is prone to anger. This is a dog that can make a 360^ turn and get serious when the situation calls for it. Not to be fooled by his overall festive persona, he is a relentless fighter and can be extremely vicious during battle. Adler is a master swordsman and has made a name for himself in the navigation circles for it. As fun and out-going as he might be, he is still very much a dangerous enemy and not one to fool around with when things get serious.
Relationship with pirates; He has developed a relatively open minded view on pirates, he sees them just as the other side to the same coin- and even recognizes that he himself could have probably ended up serving on one of their ships, had things during his youth turned out different. They're his enemies in this life, but he’s still not quite as fast to make spiteful judgements about them, sometimes even going as far as to treat them as equals when they’re on neutral grounds.
When fighting; Alder likes fighting with the sword, for it is light and elegant like him (or so he says). He is implacable and fearsome in battle, his movements are confident, stylish and flamboyant - almost like he’s putting off a show - and is not above throwing dirty comments to provoke or humiliate his peers. Blaine will most definitely let you know what he thinks of your fighting skills, regardless of who you are (friend or foe) and might even try to bring up casual conversation in the midst of a fight. He’ll roar in laughter if he’s having a good time, which he most likely will be since he almost always is. Oh also, he’s horribly evasive - you might manage to impress him just by being able to land a hit on him.

History
_________________________________________
Puppyhood;
There’s not a lot worth bringing up about Alder’s pup hood, he was born to a loving home, with a big family and plenty of playmates. He always enjoyed a relatively well accommodated life, his family was wealthy enough to enjoy some luxuries but always grounded enough to recognize the value of hard work. He was second to oldest out of six siblings- yet somehow always managed to be the unspoken leader out of the bunch.
Adler’s puppy days remain a warm positive print in his heart, and he deeply cherishes the long old times.
Youth;
Ever the scamp, he got used to being in the middle of action from a very young age. The Adler family name carried little to no meaning amongst the higher circles, and Blain often found himself dreaming about how it would feel like holding some position of power amongst the higher classes - like the people who got to talk with the king, or assist to his massive parties. Essentially, he wanted to be someone important - he wanted to sit at the same table as the king.
At some point the praise and admiration from his smaller siblings and little playmates stops being enough for the youngman, so he decides to make a move on to it and so finds himself enrolled in his majesty’s navy service, determined to make a name for himself.
Coming from humble beginnings, he had to make his way from the bottom and was often jealous of those who counted with enough power and contacts to find leverage to the top - still, he manages for the most part.
Adulthood;
Blaine went through plenty of captains during his navy years, he served at multiple ships throughout his youth - his disregard for authority and overseeing of higher orders made him pop out fast among the crew, but not the way he wanted and he was always handed out from captain to captain with a clear warning: Keep this one under tight watch.
He spent a good amount of years in the lower ranks, despite his prowess in battle - it’s during these years that he learns to use the sword, which he turns out to be a genius for - and his tangible talent for navigation.
Until he meets one captain that sees a promising future wasted in the young man, and is willing to work though the boy’s rough edges. With her close guidance, Blaine comes out of it with a new attitude- he’s far more grounded now, and is granted the approval not only of his crewmates - which he already had - but of his superiors as well. His disregard for authority was still there, it’s an inherent part of him, but it’s much dimmer now and with a much smarter approach - he was no longer a menace for his superiors, he is now an honest point of view - someone willing to question the captains ideas if they seemed too out of hand, and a safe boat willing to take matter on his own if the situation was dire enough for him to do so. It’s not a surprise to anyone when he’s granted the position of second in command.
Long gone were the days where he wished to be sitting amongst the highest circles of society, he finds genuine happiness and much more meaning out of his life in the ship and settles for jumping from one adventure to the next one during a good amount of his service years.
He even manages to make a name for himself after all, not for being dirty rich and obscenely powerful, but for his flawless mastery of the sword - which he learns to handle with upost elegance and precision throughout the years.
Present days;
At some point, as he reached late adulthood, he’s finally granted captainship with his own ship and crew. He’s sent away to Peninsula, the land known for the violence of her waters - not a job for anyone, but the perfect job for him.
The fact that Peninsula is so far away from King’s land, so there’s nobody breathing over his neck makes him comfortable, so he’s managed to thrive so far and is absolutely confident relying on his years of experience and fine new crew to back him up.
Notes;
I tried to make him fun to write and interact so that anyone that wants to burrow him doesn’t struggle figuring him out. He’s just an adventurer to be honest? But with higher dad energies.
Any of the admins can pick him up and use him for roleplay plots, whenver needed.
