At the end of the 21st century, the world could no longer sustain its population of decadent human beings. It was the natural way of things--for mankind to eliminate itself. One conflict led to another until a nuclear war broke out, annihalting much of the planet in an atomic snowfall.

However, after the end of the world, life on Japan continued. The island nation survived the chaos by reverting back to a feudal society and reviving its 19th century heirarchy. In order to "maintain" peace and stablity in post apocalyptic Japan, the samurai guard, made up of the elite noble warrior class keep the serfs (though in actuality slaves) in check...
