Description
So this years is all about mythical creatures and my contribution this time around is the legendary monster, Catoblepas.I really wanted to incorporate the different ideas on what Catoblepas is/can do and a big focus of that became his stare of stone! The image is just under the size of A2, created with Prisma pencils.

The Catoblepas is very well know for bein incredibly dreaful smelling (among other things xDD)

I think he was referenced alluded to in the FFVI game WAAAY back when, but I confess I know nothing of the actual myth.
I love the power demonstrated here; it seems to embody the piece. The way the stone shatters as he looks around in a gaze, his muzzle a mask of exertion. I love how the bursting rock has some light amid the debris--not only does it give added definition to the particles, but it enhances and makes physical the power it would take for a beast to do that when shackled like that.
The horns are like double guns mounted on the side of a battleship. It really adds to the depiction of his strength.
The color choices almost match the red and blue of a 3D picture, as though he might jump right off the page. Well done

Yeah a quick google gives lots of references to the ones in final fantasy, they seem to be much more like big dog things instead!
