Description
This is a piece of fan art that I made out of repsect for a kick ass game. It's called The Suffering and if you have not played it before, you need to. Alone. In the dark. In the middle of the night.
Those who have played this before know what I'm talking about. It is creepy as hell!
I want to color this but first I want to get the whole image. As you can see it has been cut off a little. That is because I got the biggest scanner that I could find and my sketch pad still won't fit. My idea is to get ahold of a digital camera and take a picture of it then just crop it down on the computer. Then you'll all get to see it in color! Horrable color!
mwaaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I just... really can't see what this show has to do with that story about the monster with no name.

Without spoiling too much, the boy in the story and the show's main antagonist have the same exact name. It all has to do with a conspiracy involving eugenics, brainwashing, and tons of other crap like that.

The name? That's the only reason the story is connected?

The opening of the game and the rant of the inmates is one of the most memorable moments in video games history. Sentences like "You baby raping sack of sh!t." or "I don't care, I know Jesus has forgiven me." add a bit of realism to it all. What were some people expecting murderers on death row to speak about, bunnie rabbits and candy horses?

Sure, part of the game's intrigue was it's edginess.

An edgy game. Pretty unique too.
I don't know how you felt about the second game, but I enjoyed it too.

I think what makes these monsters so scary is that not only are they grotesque and reincarnations of our sins and crimes, but are also completely unexplained. Are they demons? Monsters? Genetic Experiments? The Wrath of God? We don't know.
That's why I love the games do damn much. It's not like in dead space or other wannabe-horror games that explain everything to you, the story unravels yet the mystery surrounding these creatures is still prevalent. Mysteries cease to be interesting or scary when the truth is shoved into your face C:
As for the picture, it's great. Torque is such a badass. :3

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. Even in the second game with this weird team that supposedly hunts monsters like these all over the world, no meaningful explanation of what they are is ever given.
......
But you want to know my theory?
Imagine that the physical world and spiritual world are laying on top of each other. What happens to one world effects the other. Now imagine that some places in the spiritual world are just naturally good at collecting emotional energy (much like the way water collects into a lake).
Carnate Island is just a place that, for one reason or another, is just naturally good at collecting bad karma. It effects the people that live there, causes violence, and in turn feeds even more bad karma into the island.
Then along comes Torque: the match that blows up the whole powder keg. All the atrocities that happened on the island manifest themselves as physical entities in the real world and burn the place down in a supernatural disaster the likes of which the world has never seen before!

Yeah but MTV bought the rights, so I'm a little worried. I don't want what happened to Doom happen to The Suffering. That would just be a shame. I wonder, though, what moral path they'll chose for Torque to follow...
Bioshock would be cool too.

true, doom and dawn of the dead for example. but i think there gonna go with the bad side because on the bad side he killed his wife and kids, and that's more deep and grabs your attention more then hired assassins to come and kill his wife and kids (as per the good side)
