PERSONALITY
Fear not this night
You will not go astray
Though shadows fall
Still the stars find their way
And you can always be strong
Lift your voice with the first light of dawn
Dawn’s just a heartbeat away
Hope’s just a sunrise away

| Altruistic | Gallant | Straightforward |
[Altruistic]
"Of course I can help! Where exactly were you heading to?"
Gwen is kind hearted almost to a fault. She is always willing to lend a paw, whether that be by carrying a heavy load, playing escort for a lost cat, or just entertaining a young one for a tired parent. The Empire cats in the city are a complicated subject for her because of this. She is careful to treat them only as well as her position allows, but occasionally she can’t help but feel for them.
[Gallant]
"This way! Stand behind me!"
Having grown up looking after her brother, Gwen is very protective of those that she cares about. She would never run from a fight if it meant her friends would be put in danger. In battle, she prefers to be at the front where she can draw attention away from others.
[Straightforward]
What you see is what you get. Gwen, as a rule, hates beating around the bush. She often grows impatient with cats that do. It’s rare for her to lie; she isn’t very good at it regardless.
Neutral
| Awkward... Secretly | Courteous | Proud |
[Awkward… Secretly]
“W-well, um… that is a bit personal, I’m afraid.”
Due to her only close relationship growing up being with her brother, Gwen is uncomfortable making friends at anything more than a surface level. She is a private cat, rarely willing to be vulnerable with others. She tries her best to hide this behind a friendly smile, but it’s pretty obvious…
[Courteous]
“Good day, sir.”
Gwen’s default with strangers is politeness. She endeavors to treat everyone civilly, even if she isn’t personally a fan of someone. This trait mostly stems from wanting to avoid becoming an outcast.
[Proud]
"A Sentinel is Massilia’s first line of defense. I aim to honor that oath."
Gwen has a lot of pride in herself, the effort put into her training, and her work as a Sentinel. She’s not necessarily the boastful type, but is more than willing to accept praise when it is given. She also prefers not to be indebted to those that help her. The negative side of this trait, however, is that she would sooner eat her armor than admit she’s afraid, or even just feeling down.
Negative
| Obstinate | Rash |
[Obstinate]
"No. Absolutely not."
Gwen can be stubborn as a mule. She hates admitting that she was wrong about something, and hates admitting that someone else was right even more.
[Rash]
"If we don’t act now, that thief is going to escape! Fine, I’ll go after him myself!"
Gwen has a bad habit of acting without having all the facts first. This leads to her being reckless in times of trouble. She tends to jump to conclusions about the reason behind other cats’ behavior.
HISTORY
[Let Me Tell You a Story...]
It begins in a foggy city to the north. Two young cubs stumble through a dark alleyway in search of a presence no longer there – that of their mother. She had gone hunting earlier that day and had yet to return to the abandoned shop they called home. They search until sunrise. Not a trace is found.
That is how Guinevere and Percival’s lives began, shivering away one cold late winter morning…
[Street Cats]
Gwen remembers very little of her parents. Her father was never in picture, and her mother rarely spoke of him before she disappeared. What she does remember, however, is her brother.
Percy was a small, sickly cub. He was often too weak to play outside of the shop, to say nothing of finding food for himself. Gwen, from a young age, took it upon herself to look after him. She learned through trial and error some clumsy hunting techniques. The two young street cats went hungry more times than they could count. But the hardship brought them closer together. Despite their dire circumstances, Gwen and Percy developed a close sibling bond.
This life continued until the day Gwen and her brother turned one. On that day, Gwen had been returning from another unsuccessful morning of scrounging up food, when she heard an odd noise coming from the shop. She raced inside to investigate. The culprit was a startled human. Gwen was on the defensive at first; humans could be helpful as well as harmful. But when he offered the yearlings a cut of meat, hunger won out over caution.
The human returned several times over the next few weeks. Gwen gradually came to accept his presence, especially given that Percy seemed to enjoy the human’s company. On his final visit, the human called for them to follow as he left. The two snow leopards followed their new friend without a second thought.
[The Potter’s Guard]
The human was a potter by trade. He and his own littermate ran a rather large storefront together. Gwen marveled at the vases and pots that lined the shelves. Though there was some sort of disagreement between the potter brothers, eventually the unfamiliar human relented. And so it was that Gwen and Percy found a new home.
Gwen took to her new job as the shop’s guardian quickly, thanks to the help of a trainer the brothers hired. Percy, however, did not. When it became clear that he wasn’t strong to tackle any would-be robber, the humans had another argument. Gwen, terrified that they would send her brother back to the alleys, wore herself down training hard enough for the both of them. She wasn’t sure if her intent was ever realized by the humans. But Percy was allowed to stay for whatever reason. He became a constant companion to their human friend.
[To Distant Shores]
Two years later, the snow leopards had grown into happy adults. And the humans’ business had grown as well. It had grown so much, in fact, that the older of the two brothers pondered leaving the city to open another store. Before long, he was packing for the long trip south to a place known as Massilia.
For the first time in their lives, Gwen and Percy had to say goodbye. The human had decided to leave Percy behind with his companion. Gwen would set sail for a new land alone. It was a tearful farewell. Gwen vowed that she would come back, even though she wasn’t sure if she ever could.
The sad look on her brother’s face as the ship pulled away from the docks remained her memory during the weeks of travel.
[The Wardens]
(More will be added to this as Gwen grows and has new experiences.)
Upon arriving in Massilia, the potter immediately set to work finding a lot to buy for his new business. Gwen, meanwhile, tried her best to adjust to her new home. She learned that a good portion of the city had been destroyed by a great fire… caused by cats outside the city, according to the local “Wardens”. The Warden program had been formed in response to the incident. Her master had evidently heard a similar story, because soon after, he signed Gwen up for the program. A way to make some extra money while he waited for business to pick up.
Gwen was uneasy to say the least. But, eager to make her master happy, she dove into her role as a Sentinel – the peacekeepers of Massilia.
