Description
You can buy it at <[link]This is, of course, an absolutely brand new and first quality figure. This is what you might call an adult toy, like a finished model kit if you will, a replica statue of what would be in "real life" a much larger robot or piece of technology!
This piece of tech from the robot world is a Super Telescope ... the scope itself is over 7" long! It comes with a nice base, metal coil connector and little globe eye lens (does not work optically) as shown, AND MOVES UP AND DOWN!!! It is one in a series that I am continually growing of "classic" figurines of retro type robots, ships and other tech made almost entirely of wood. Most in this "world" or galaxy are somewhat old fashioned, with stylish design lines and curves; a different family from the "block" robot look. They all have plenty of details, joints (some which move -- I usually say), radar dishes, weapons, etc... other special features which I try to remember to point out are other moveable parts at times, clear domes, bendable appendages, accessories and the like.
Each is designed by me, completely an original! They are all painstakingly put together and made by hand from various wood pieces, occassionally with other bits or materials (generally like 97-99% is wood). I then carefully paint them, in this case I went with a mainly white, powder coat look with heavy black shading and undertones ... while overall they look like real tech, still, at times just enough of the wood character and sometimes even the grain itself shows through which I think adds a special dimension.
This piece of tech from the robot world has a bit of a Victorian look and feel to it. It's massive; the sizeable platform at the smaller end held up by (in real life) moving omni cord is big enough for a few people and contains a cushioned seat and control podiuum! The collection of lenses and visionary mechanical wizardry inside is a mystery, but will show the furthest galaxies in minute detail! The telescope moves up and down and of course the base can be rotated. It has a long, thin site scope for general viewing before moving the main array. It also has a sonic detector and data recorder, connected to the main computer core at the base. A small but potent radar type dish at the larger end can be used to either transmit it's findings or scout for ET signals.
Please see my many other pieces including robots, rockets, flying saucers, vehicles, ray guns, animals and more!
