Description Wow! Nice job by ginkovisuals.deviantart.com/ making a full color 3D graphic of my design for Castle Number One built4ever.deviantart.com/art/… . Please direct technical questions to them, not me! To see the original design sketch done in pencil, see my gallery. This is an original design for a "personal luxury castle," but it could easily be a medieval game playing environment or the setting for a novel. I don't have a floor plan for it yet!

My comments on this: They interpreted certain things like roof tile color and stone color their own way. I think it's very well done, very accurate. In this case, red ceramic tile roof and medium greyish brown stone color throughout. Shadowing is very dramatic, obviously this is depicted in strong sunlight.

If anybody has $50 million dollars or so laying around and wants to spend it, just e-mail me.

No. No credit necessary. Just give me 1 per cent of the starting stock.

Isn't that the castle for the UDK browser based environment?

Negative. This is not in a game yet. But if somebody wants to put it in a game, then, IT'S FOR SALE, believe me...

haha... 50 million wouldn't even cover the foundation for such a place.

Built of "true" stone masonry, probably not. Cheating with stone over poured concrete, 12 inch walls standard, plus 8 inches stone, some tapering, functional buttresses and "stub walls," eh, maybe we can make it...Look in my gallery at the Oates residence retaining wall in the construction projects folder. I've already built this stuff...

yeah, i had no idea what it would actually cost. I was just being silly.

No really, it's possible to get deep into the tens of millions for the foundation walls. You could be right.

True, the Biltmore estate, if built today, would be estimated around 264.5 million dollars, so I guess 50 million for the foundation wouldn't be far off for something like this.

I live an hour from Biltmore. That sounds low because of the difficulty in finding the craftsman who can do the stonework, woodwork, etc. I'm hoping to "one-up" the Biltmore in some of these sketches, yes really. This is "end of your career" stuff, plans you draw when you are 60 or 70.

Looks lovely! The garrets and gabled windows are very gothic romantic, but its clearly built more as a palace than a fortification...

Only there's no reason for the causeway to be so windy, or lack guardrails!

Good eye! If this was a Disney property, I would have to go over it with a fine-toothed comb and look for the sundry SAFETY VIOLATIONS.

Smart guy has 5 million extra budgeted already to pay for cost overruns. Only problem is that the cost overruns will probably be more like 20 or 30 million bucks.

Are you going to do this for all of your castles? Would love to see some of them like this to be honest!

Yes, very pleased, very strong composition and structure to the castle. It light a fire under me to keep designing more of it, but I need a purpose for it. Luxury home for today's market? Game environment? Novel? All different.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CiiMoore In reply to Built4ever [2013-03-27 00:33:21 +0000 UTC]

I would go with a cross between a gaming environment.Perhaps it could be a luxury home for wealthy family in a sort of fantasy like atmosphere.

It sort of makes me think of the designs for The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and maybe Skyrim. (Haven't played Skyrim, but I have seen some concept art)

Perhaps Fable? I played that game too, and the game art was very nice.

Built4ever In reply to CiiMoore [2013-03-28 01:08:52 +0000 UTC]

Yes my stuff compared to those games a lot. If I go with luxury house, it will be buildable and sellable, believe me...that's why I lean that way...

CiiMoore In reply to Built4ever [2013-03-28 01:18:10 +0000 UTC]

I think you should! It would make a good chunk of change if it could be built and sold!

Built4ever In reply to William2124 [2013-03-26 18:31:22 +0000 UTC]

I have given thought to that believe me. I have an idea for joining the tower with the big house to the left with a second story skyway. A big terrace and pavilion is at the back to the right.
