Description
Residence on Crooked Lake, Lake Wales, Florida. 2006-7, landscape design by Gregg Wortham for The Smith Company. This is the largest design I have worked on to date and had some great challenges. The variety of terrain, flora and location made this much more interesting than many of the designs I have worked on.
This home is still a work in progress. When it is completed I will add more photographs.

Aw, shucks! Wouldn't that have been nice!! The location is nice, but so is the landscape... you've made it really fit into it's enviroment. Nice work-

bukwessul: Sorry for hosing the decks with testosterone but sad little ppl like this rub me the wrong way. After all if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all unless asked.
Fabulous design! How close to the water is the seawall? Might be able to surfcast if its close enough Some good fishing I would think. Oh you can put the my spa in the corner if you like lol Lil hole through the sea wall and I'd never have to clean it
The angle is excellent and must give some great views being on the corner and all. Any chances of some pics of the views when you post the rest?
Definately puts the houses on each side to shame! More houses like this should improve the view somewhat.

Thank Oliver, I appreciate the kind comments. The water is about 4-6 ft. below the seawall generally. The fish are supposed to be good there and there is supposed to be a jacussi going in on the south east corner in the future I hear.

No probs Immortal Designs speaks highly of you and her judgement is sound
I would hope it was below the seawall might get a lil damp otherwise.
Would be nice to catch dinner from your own backyard. Have ur BBQ few feet away. Could even sit in the jacussi and fish lol T'would be the life.

If you both ever get up this way-we should look into it. Sounds like she had a shit day with the cake decorating. I don't know her well, but when she gets mad I bet it isn't fun to see. I hope she gets over it. I'd hate to see her mad long. It can't be fun for you either.

Lol actually she's not too bad. Well at least she isn't with me. We get along well enough it doesn't matter too much. She was a lil grumpy but after a lil bitching it was all good Too be honest in the years I've known her I've never seen her truelly angry like when she was a teen. Apparently she could get rather aggressive
It sucked and all but life goes on and theres bigger fish to fry. And we don't have airlocks to escort the annoying ppl too

folks like you build these abominations on our lakes
for the benefit of your egos.
I hope that eye sore floods and washes away!
Do you even realize how these huge ugly monoliths diminish the beauty of the lake?

Wow have you noticed that your the only person so far to not like it?
Is it because your jealous of anothers abilities or that because you have a voice and an opinion and thus feel you have a right to impose your slanderous comments on others?
What diminishes the beauty of the world is sad comments like yours. Should nature decide to reclaim the house as you hope. Let US hope that you go with it.

My ego? Look jackass I work for a living. As long as we are discussing hopes-I hope you can learn to read before you slander, judge and wish ill will on people you don't even know- it might save you and your family an uncomfortable reality someday.

You are full of suprises, Mr Wessul. I love the way you can diversify yourself, probably keeps things interesting. I envy that flexibility! Is this just one house you're working on, or is it a whole development?

The flexability is a clever disguise. Mostly it is juggling two or three things to help pay the bills. Believe it or not, it is one house for a family of 6. I thought the development angle was pretty good though.

Beautiful park site. I love the travertine!
The design is just the second phase. The palms and other plants come after. No this isn't home but a clients. The picture isn't mine, but the design is.

Well, that's still pretty cool. My grandfather's really into landscaping. His property is beautiful. I can definately appreciate all the hard work that landscapers go through... especially in the summer months. Yay, sweat.

Yeah. He actually just does it with my grandmother. He's very picky. And they're not that old, either, so it's not like they'd hurt themselves doing something. They're pretty fit. *nod*

Yes I agree. But if the customer wants a house close to the water, then he gets it close to the water. He did have a good sea wall put in-it puts his house almost 6' above the water level. 2 meters?

Yes, thats what I did to supliment my income with teaching last year. The house is pretty amazing inside too. The view is very cool. When the plants are in, it will be even better I hope. I tried to frame in the good views of the lake from the house. It does seem like an island out there.

Very very cool stuff! You could get such a high paying job here doing that... All around my little town is farms that are how getting put into ugly small houses that are so close you could hang out your window and touch the nextdoors house.. but it's making them lots of money, most of the richest people in NZ own places there. last year a little one bedroom sold for over $6 millonNZD just so they could tear it down! It makes me so mad!
anyways, this place will look ten times better with gardens and that out door living side to it... very nicely done.

Thanks for the compliment. I was fishing wasn't I. Development is ruining Florida. We all say that, but it has become such a mainstay of the economy here. Heck I profitied by it and I didn't stop cashing my checks.
Why not do the lansdscape design you? At least it can look beautiful when you are done with it.

I couldn't do landscaping, too much training to much hard work... I like designing gardens and doing the work (i like getting my hands dirty) but i'd rather do all that work for my own place as something I enjoy not as a job.. I dunno, it's just one of those things.
