I really enjoy the movement of this piece and good use of forging....I would be interested to see a closer view of the piece so I could see the detail of the work! Great piece!

What an excellent piece - such dynamic movement. I usually dislike sculpture. I see so many people simply piling trash into a heap and calling it art, and that aggravates me. Works like this renew my faith in the sculpted form and prevent me from dismissing the medium altogether. Well done!

Thank you Grizzelnit. I appreciate your comment, especially about the current state of sculpture. I hope you won't give up on the discipline of sculpture. There is much more to it than meets the eye automatically.

There are two other items on the agenda. One -Bob Dylan, Talkin' WWIII Blues. Great song great album.
Two-NE, I went to Grad school at UNL. I hope you look into it if you are interested in the Fine Arts. There are a few really good professors there and some energetic students who are capable of some very interesting work.

Very good to recieve your comments and glad to know you're out there making some badd ass work of your own.

Small world! I'm currently enrolled at UNL, finishing up my BFA! You're right about the staff and students - it's a great atmosphere for the creative spirit.

Have a merry Christmas - and if you don't celebrate it, have a great Monday and a happy New Year!

I am gld you are there. Your work looks great so I hoped you were getting a thourough education to get the most out of your talents.

If you see Santiago, please tell him I miss him. and Pete! Those two really helped me a ton.

When are you done?

I should be finished in about 1-2 semesters, and I can't wait. I enjoy taking classes, but they just eat up so much time. Right now I'm interested in getting my work in tip-top shape so I can get it into some shows and start selling.
I don't often run into Pete and Santiago, but if/when I do, I'll let them know that they're missed!

damn Buk. This is some of the best work I've ever seen come out of you - i'd LOVE to see this in person. Your work has really evolved since the days of yore... Yet at its core it's still you. Now however there is a delicacy to your pieces that I never saw before. It could have been my eye back then of course, but I also think there's something so much more mature and focused about you. This piece is just f'ing amazing. amazing.

Thanks Noelle. Thats a great compliment. Thicket was the first forged piece I made when I went to UNL after the Army and the absence from the forge. They hated it so much it got squished out of me. But It taught me who I could trust there right off the bat.

lhotp In reply to bukwessul [2006-10-23 16:28:09 +0000 UTC]

really? I never would have guessed that something like this would be the first thing to pour out of you after the Army...interesting... perhaps there are some Korean influences... its just such a dynamic piece, there's nothing static about it and its delicacy is moving. Amazing that it poured forth from you after those experiences. I can't believe they hated it - well, yes I can. But unjustifiably so.

The formation looks really interesting because at the same time it looks like smoke but also claws... Although, I do see a cowboy boot too so.. haha... ^_^''
I feel inspired... and yet I am too lazy, so your inspire has been flushed.. I'll just fave this and come back to look at it another time.. heh heh...
