Description 9 - 11 - 04

My tribute to 9-11-01. We must always remember the courage and pride of everybody who was involved in the rescue efforts and the thousands who died. This is for all those affected directly and indirectly by the attacks.

Lest we forget.

Update:

Despite what many people might think about this photograph, it is not staged. Their positions are entirely spontaneous.

Thanks to for selecting the image and for recommending it.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts.

I remember my visit to Ground Zero, and that unspeakable feeling on me, the two women in the picture, and everyone else is all the same.

myself, i feel that we as a country, have lost some focus on what happened on that tragic day. as a kid growing up in the Bronx, i watched the towers go up from my fathers apartment. 10 years later i stood atop them, and 11 years later i watched in horror, as they came down. we should NEVER forget...

Brilliant picture. These two were at the right place at the right time, even though thousands were in the right place at the wrong time....

I know I will not forget. I had never before and have not seen since an entire campus of nearly 40,000 students look so normal and yet be so quiet.

it is true, the turmoil in New York is not something to be forgotten, sadly our government seems to not keep the same thing in mind and switched their view from Osama Bin Laden to Iraq, why? The "weapons of mass destruction" that never surfaced

It's a lot more complicated than that. I tend not too agree with your government and I won't say anything more about it.
Thanks

we watched the news in every single class but two...one didn't have a tv and the other...the teacher was a bitch and wouldn't let us watch. it happened to our country, and she didn't let us watch. no wonder i hated her so much...

Grey-Wolff In reply to empty-phantom [2005-07-09 04:03:36 +0000 UTC]

Yea.
It was sort of okay for me, because I live in Australia so when it happened it was really the day after my birthday. It was still a bit of a shock though. And now whenever I tell people when my birthday is they say "Really?!"
But just because it turned out okay for me doesn't mean that it was for everyone, it would be selfish of me to think that.

Yeah... One of my friends grandparents were supposed to be in the towers that day, at that time. IN them. She was so worried. Thankfully they weren't there, but if they were...

I bet they feel really lucky that they weren’t.
In those situations there are so many people who end up not being in the particular place where it happened for such small reasons. Like their car wasn't working or their taxi was late or their babysitter didn't come. It's so amazing that things that can seem like burdens can save your life.

I look forward to the day when Palestinian and Iraqi photographers begin posting images that relate to the shit that they have to endure every day.

Meaningful capture and powerful message.

Some people just don't understand the impact of what happened and mock it, and it takes images such as these and some others to really make us remember how we ALL felt that day as Americans, regardless of race, gender, and political view.

I'll be purchasing a print. Thank you!

What people fail to notice was that it wasn't only an attack on the United States, but also on the interests of the rest of the world.
