Thought since I didn't have him doing anything flashy, that I'd focus more on the aura around him xD Looks like I did well enough

This is really epic! But...something doesn't feel right to me. I don't what it is, exactly, but Death's face looks a bit off to me. And the scythes look a bit large and doesn't he normally weild them upside down?

Β

A-anyway, besides it looking a little off to me, this does look really cool, and it is very well done! Though, one real complaintΒ I have is that there seem to be something going on in the background, and it's distracting. Also, I can't what it is that IS going on in the background. Its not much, but I thought I shuld address it...

Β

Either way, love this.

The ref I was using had him with the scythes held normally-

This is a speedpaint, so it's not a complete picture, the background was splattered on there to take away from the negative space-

I also went closer to Death as I saw him from the concept artbook from the first game-

Thanks for your feedback!

Ah, well for not being complete...even if I did have some nitpicks, it sure looks pretty complete, or at least awesome.

The interesting thing about the speedpaints I do at least is part of how the incomplete still has a stylized enough look to pass for a complete work. Thanks!

Well anyone who can do a "speedpaint" (how long do those take, anyways?), and have it look really awesome, even unfinished, deserves some praise. It blows me away how much more amazing other artists out there are compared to me.

A speedpaint used to take me 2 hours, then I whittled it down to 1 hour last year, now this year with these recent SMR ones are 30 minutes. It's just going as fast as you can to accomplish something within a given time frame. I'm flexible with it because it's generally for practice, and if I rush, I might not get the practice I need anyways. It's all practice. The more you practice, the better you get at drawing. The more you study, the more you know. The more you time yourself, the faster you get. Plain and simple.Β

Yeah, I'm not even trying to speed up, I'm just trying to improve in general.

WhileΒ I can respect the impressive feat of speedpainting, I'd like to take more time to make a better project. Though it does seem like a kinda fun challenge.

Speed just comes with time and the ability to visualize things. It's best to go your own pace anyways.Β

Speedpainting is just a good warm-up and quick opportunity to do some practice on things. The quicker I get em done, the more time I have for actual work I suppose

Ha, that's one way to think about things. Either way, practice is necessary I suppose. Even for work at my level.

all things need practice xD

Does one need to practice to get better at practicing, though?

Huh...my almost philosophical question didn't even phase you...you are more than just an excellent artist...You are also a genius! >

I don't know about that one. Sounds like philosophy has got us both too mindblown
