Description
More stuff I've contributed to smogon over the past two months. Since peopleinquired last time, here's all of the places and in what context they were used. Press Download for the real size!
Grovyle vs the Forest
Done for the 'Monthly' Art Contest (MAC) in our art forum. The current theme is
Heroism, so I figured I'd do a good ol' fashioned standoff between the hero, its
allies, and the foes. Background got sloppy though, since I made it close to the
deadline (which was later extended).
Typhlosion and Beartic
For the What's HOT in C&C? article (Contributions & Corrections), where new
strategies or uses for pokémon are what they deal with. Such as how Beartic
has been shown to fare well among legendaries.
Terrakion, Hippowdon and Gothitelle
Featured OU RMT , a showcase of a team which has been proven to work well in
the OverUsed tier. Rain and Sun are two types of weather commonly seen, while
sand is not, so in that regard this team was testing new grounds. Gothitelle also
got Shadow Tag as Dream World ability, hence why it lurks in the back.
Drillwhale and Pirate squid
Battling at full CAPacity . The Smogon community has together made many
fakemon of their own, but while they were intended to be used in battle
simulators, BatCAP is a 2D fighting game where they are used to battle in
real-time. The whole game, and art, has been created and maintained by one
guy named Cartoons!. That is genuinely amazing and should be checked out
even if you're not familiar with the CAPs at all.
Whimsicott and Jirachi
10 Most Annoying Pokémon Sets , where the pokémon shown are notorious for
abusing priority and odds in their favor.
Mantyke to Karrablast/Shelmet plus small avatars
Pokémon Biology: Combined Evolution . Another round where people try to make
sense of pokémon themselves in a scientific manner, where this theme focuses
on pokémon who requires the presence or aid of other species to evolve.

You're getting better so fast! I always liked the way you try to fill EVERY picture with all kinds of tasty color-choices. You always try to make every tiny frame look unique and stylish.

When i saw that Narwhal..thing...and understood that i dunno what the hell is that...i understood that im an oldass to pokemon community.
I still stuck with my generic Gengars and Golducks..(i mean in mind)... D:
The only new pokemon i like is not even a 'new' one...

The narwhal is entirely made by fans, so I wouldn't hold it against you if you didn't recognise it. The same can be said about sticking it to the original 150, but if you ever get around playing some of the games made after the first trilogy, I'd recommend trying the new mons out rather than keeping yourself to known favorites. You won't regret it.

Ohh...im happy that narwhal is fakemon. Thought i knew it somehow because he kinda don't have the style of new generations...
I don't stuck with original 150. I lost interest when my NDS was broken...it happened somewhere before Black\White release and then i forgot about pokemons. I see new designs and they kinda too cute to my tastes. And there are less japanese mythology (or not?) in them. This why i so love some monsters from first generation. I just love the fact that Golduck is a Kappa reference (+ im sucker for disney ducks so i just can't let Golduck go from my team ahaha).

It's always a treat to read the Smog and recognizing your art. Even though it has been a while since I've been serious about my pokemon teamset...
Anyway my favorite would have to be the sandstorm pic. The Gothitelle lurking in the back has a great effect. Well they're all pretty great.

We try to include several articles which has nothing to do with the metagame and just about pokémon or their world in general, so that there's something for everyone. And thanks, that pic did get some extra attention, so I'm glad it paid off.

These ones are just great, but what I love about your stuff it's the color. Have you ever considered making a tutorial about how you color?

Maybe. Whenever I shaded before I just used black and white in different blending modes/opacities, now I try to pick colors according to the light source or the color of what I'm shading.

You commented on slowpoke's evolution, and realised how it was also a duplication of the traditional image of evolution from fish to landbased animals. I exaggerately yelled 'surprise' since you discovered that somewhat hidden detail, and here we are. I overreacted, you're overthinking this.

Second Post:
I WANT THAT SAND NARWHAL. Also, Necturne/Necturnal is an interesting Gardevoir eseque pokemon.
However a lot of the Fakemon were kind of bizarre or uninteresting. The two I mentioned, as well as the Ghost cat, were the only interesting ones.

I personally fancy around 7 from that selection, but that's a matter of taste.

Not a scientifically correct display, but once I was struck by the idea it wouldn't go away, ahaha.

Although all the images work well, I particularly love how you drew Gothitelle. I don't even like that Pokemon, but you made it look awesome.
As for the rest of it, it is all good. I'm surprised Beartic fares well on legendaries. I guess every pokemon has their niche after all.

Swift Swim along with Kyogre works well. Getting a Swords Dance boost without being blown to pieces is a more delicate task though.

I see. I'm not as keen as I used to be on competitive matters, but it's good to know Beartic has more of a use now, even if it's a high-risk-high-reward kind of thing.

There are several pictures here that I liked for they were well done. First, the Typhlosion with the Choice Specs made me smile while I find how you drew Beartic to be cool. Next, the picture with Mantine, Mantyke, & Remoraid was adorable, and the Slowpoke evolution was hilarious. The avatars are great. I found the Tynamo with glasses and the Anorith with a mortarboard and a diploma to be very cute and the Sharpedo with laser beams attached to its head to be awesome. The Koffing on the Mayan calendar was hilarious. Also, is that a Teddiursa I see at the bottom of the calender?

Wow, really awesome job dude. I really like the Grovyle panel and the fakemon one. Its a shame GameFreak doesnt use some of people's fakemon designs. Some are extremely cool.

Who wouldnt be? Its fun to make something and its even more fun to have your creation go up against other people's creations. Its a concept rooted in many video games and sports. Have you ever made any fakemons?

Just a few: [link] I'm already regretting some of them, just the starters alone could use a solid revamp. But it's neat to work with them since I get to design creatures of my own, but also how challenging it is to come up with designs that are a compromise between complexity and simplicity. Although I have zero plans of actually using any of 'em, I'll leave that to someone else.

Hmmm, some of them are actually pretty cool. I really like the Stegosaur starter. It would be pretty cool to start off with a dinosaur pokemon right off the bat. I would image he would be Def heavy too. I also really like the rock guy with different forms too. It must feel awesome to create your own creature. To go through all the processes and end up with something you like, especially if its cool. I cant imagine how fun it must be to do that and have it go up against other people's creations.

It's actual name is Colossoil, but since I imagine most people don't know about Smogon's CAP, I just picked the first description I could think of. Follow the link in my author comment if you wanna check out the rest! And yeah, I put in a little extra effort in that RMT picture. Some times they get made into the cover image, but I forgot about which season we were having so they opted for a snowy image instead ahaha.
