DO TAKE NOTE:
FAQ #332: Does deviantART have a feature that will automatically watermark my deviations?
"This option will be presented to you only if you change the Display Options field to one of the smaller resolutions available in the submission/editing process, allowing you to add a watermark or not.
Images which are kept at 'original size' will not be processed by us and will not present the option of automatic watermarking on your images."
Also, if you submit your image under certain categories, or your image type (jpeg, png etc) is different from the usual, the watermark option will not appear.

it depends. It may be because of the type of file you upload too, like if it is jpeg or png etc.

If it really does not appear, just make your own watermark and put it up yourselves instead

you cant choose the watermark and/or its size
if you can't change the size or your art it is probably too small or the resolution(quality) is not good

How do you create a watermark?

you draw them and add them to all your artpieces before posting it anywhere
it is normally added using photoshop or gimp, but I'm sure other art programs can work too.

If i'm not wrong, it's because your display setting is in it's original size. Another reason is because like you said, it's only 50x50 and is too small!

you might like to check if your size of your deviation(display options) is the original size or a smaller version. you cant add watermarks to the original size ones.
