EDIT - This tutorial doesn't work anymore with Eclipse, since I made this in 2011. Sorry I'm inactive on dA and not sure how thumbnails work now.EDIT - This tutorial is a little outdated since it was created before the "Share buttons" existed, but it still works. I'll update it with newer images when I have time.

To find thumb codes now:
1. Go to deviation
2. Find the "Share buttons" to the right that have a Note, Facebook, Tumblr, & Twitter, then click the down arrow
3. Copy the code under "Thumb"
I made this mostly for the directions in :thumb174033030: Ooo look, another thumbnail! Let me know if you have any questions!

i'm having an issue, i made an animated gif stamp, and had to upload a separate thumbnail due to the stamp being a little too big. so i added a smaller version of the gif for the thumbnail, but now whenever i copy my stamp anywhere it shows the thumbnail instead of the actual stamp ;;

and you can make it bigger by putting big in between ":" "thump", like this :bigthump*random number*: but how can wee flip it?

I'm trying to get it where the thumbnail of the next page of a comic is in the description box like I've seen some others. I put the thumb code in and it doesn't seem to be working. It just shows the thumb code as text. What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem so I did some investigation and the reason is:
that thumb codes don't work on the description box for free users, sadly you must be a core to use this feature
