Uploading a super OLD picture... and it kind of stands out to me, as my old art looks pretty different to my recent stuff
Man, I remember being super proud of this, and I still like it a lot. Took me a long time and went through a lot of editing (years worth...) so that it ended up kind of sketchy and blurred. It was one of the first times ever that I decided to suck it up and use references for the hands - which is why the hands are more passable than usual. Like all of my characters, Sen is a user of magic, and uses the element of light.
I won't get into a bunch of boring backstory, because it involves made-up nations and all that... but anyway, Sen is a mixed race person whose father was a dragon-man from the fire country and his mother was an angel (winged human) from the light country. His mother was assassinated on the day he was born, but her angel magic kept him alive as a newborn even after her own death. Due to this, Sen has something of a mother complex, as he thinks he remembers seeing her and hearing her voice even though she died when he was born.
Sen uses illusion magic, and is really powerful because he can control people with visual and mental illusions. He is arch enemies and rivals with my other character Ayashi, as they both use illusion and think they are the best at it. Sen's weapon of choice is a giant F-off hammer, that maybe I'll draw one day
He also has a hot emo boyfriend that I will probably never draw. Anyway, hope you like it.

OH I thought of something else. Did you see my list of four characters we could pair with Yuka? I thought I'd mention too that Isso, the 4th one on that list, is best friends with Sen - this guy, who you seem to like? I'm not trying to sway you, but IF you wanted to pair Yuka with Isso, then they could totally go on double dates with Sen and his hot emo boyfriend!! ((sorry, I couldn't help bringing that upΒ XD ))

I see your list, and I CAN'T DECIDE OH MY GOD. To be honest about Isso I'm not sure >.< He's not my favorite at all, even while being BF with Sen.
But it would be really cool.

I was never planning to draw Sen's emo boyfriend unless there was some kind of interest shown by watchers.... but I guess YOU became that person so I gotta do it now!! His hot emo boyfriend has black and dark-blue mixed colour emo hair. Heheheh. >:3

Well, I really like this old way you had to color, but that's because I'm a sucker for watery and transparent coloring effect xD
Your newer style is really good-looking as well, and it's a more mixed version between this one and a more anime approach. So I wouldn't try to measure them, they are different styles. Would you compare a digital manga anime picture and a traditionnal Renaissance painting? No? I think it's the same. You can't judge two coloring styles, even if both are yours. Cause this was it and this is now, and those two are different. Are they obliged to be better or worse? Can't they just equally exist, without competition?

True, true. I don't necessarily compare my old style and my new style... I just think it's a little weird that the transition happened at all. I guess it was some kind of internal change, because if I tried to imitate my old style now I probably couldn't do it, I think the difference comes down sheerly to the amount of time I spent editing...

Anyway, I'm glad you like this guy... I have almost finished a much newer picture of him, and as expected, he looks very different, even his hair is kind of different colour. But the newer picture is more like what he's supposed to look like it, so when I upload it I hope you like it >.<

The picture looks great! I like the combination of colours very much! Light-green background, turquoise hair and blue and white outfit correspond with each other perfectly! I also like the pose of the character and tense look of his eyes. And I agree that hands look great! : - ) By the way, I think that there is nothing wrong with using the references for the poses : - ) My teacher even recommends that : - ) Anyway, this character really looks like a strong magic user, fierce, competitive and ready to battle : - ) And the special effects are beautiful! Great job!

Thank you, your comments are great! I especially appreciate it on this one... because I've worked on this picture for a looong time! Indeed, I know using references is very important... I'm just too stubborn to use them usually XP but when I do use reference pics for hands and arms, they turn out better! I'm glad you like the colour scheme! I almost wanted to change the dark blue/white outfit, but I'm glad I left it because it looks alright with the turquoise hair. This character kind of has very soothing colours yet he has a strong and competaive personality. -You interpreted his nature perfectly! Excellent!Β

Ah, thanks so much!! Yeah, it's hard to say why but my older art has a different look to it... I think because older pics took me so much longer and the lines got all redone and faded. Ah, I'm glad you like the clothing folds and the magic... I kind of like this for the same reasons... ^-^ Thank you! <3
