I think this is one of the best pictures I have ever taken.My dad is an elusive subject. He's just a hard man to photograph. In the past, I've mainly gotten pictures of him making an irritated or goofy face, or simply flipping me the bird.
Getting him with a genuine smile... This is like gold to me.
The older I get, the more I realize how much of who I am comes from him. Which is cool, because my dad is a awesome.

Anyway, he can't be cooler than THE Dad (= mine)! I really really love him and I can't even begin to explain how much I admire his knowledge (he's a real polyhistor), his wit and his edgy homour! But unfortunately he just won't let me take a picture of him! :/

Wonderful portrait. I love how the left eye is so clear and the right is in shadow . . . kind of echoes your sentiments of how difficult it is to get a good photo of your 'elusive' dad. I think it is hard to take portaits of family, but your photo makes me think I should probably try more often.

the colours are fantastic.. you balanced it wonderfully between a richness and soft tone thats hard to get..

Thanks a lot man! Yep, you guessed it! It's the 50mm prime. I'm fairly certain this was shot with Fuji Reala, which gives some of the best colors, in my opinion.

heh the only time i shoot film is in slide form.. and even then i cross process it
yeh ive never quite understood the whole film side.. ive allways been able to get fairly good colours in photoshop
