Description
I'm a sucker for a foggy night and bright street lamps.I gave ~cubemb 's style a go; I think I did reasonably well. Check out his gallery for better photography in this vein.
Oh yeah, that's me up there.

Thank you! whenever I see a foggy night outside my window, I grab all my gear.
Ooo, weddings are good for extra moolah.

judging from the high pitched violin music queued to begin, i'd say one of two things can happen. either you menacingly whip out a chainsaw, or the tree eats you.

Hmm, I'd say the latter. Man-eating trees is a little more Grimm fairy tale-like.

Nice...like the color and the way the light is. Should be a cover for a mystery novel.
Well done.

You said you were giving cubemb's style a go. I said "I don't miss the guns" because cubemb has an unhealthy obsession with them which is why I took him off my watch list even though I do like his other work.

I think that's precisely what draws me to it: the effect it has on beams of light.
Thanks!

That's great. It's surprisingly clear for a long exposure. Nice job. Really turned out nice. Was this cross proccessed too? Everytime I try to do a long exposure, I get a nasty brown colour in the sky.

BurlapZack In reply to piccolo [2006-04-04 06:50:37 +0000 UTC]
Thanks man! I did my best to hold still. I think it was maybe a 2 or 3 second exposure. This one was actually processed normally.
Hmm.. the brown color may be from city lights being reflected off of low clouds. Those bright orange street lights, perhaps.

you being a sucker for fog explains why you liked Back From Basic so much....
As for this photo. What I like about it is the contrasting heights. It makes the photo. Had it been just you or just the tree, it would have been crap; but with you near the tree, it is a great photo.
Oh and as for the whole timer thing... why don't you try to get a remote for you camera?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BurlapZack In reply to SouthTown85 [2006-03-27 16:50:11 +0000 UTC]
Yep, that it does.
And you're right; it took me quite some time to compose this shot where the tree and the light would both be in the shot and balanced out. Where I stood ended up being a lot of guesswork.
A remote would be neat, but I really don't take very many self-portraits, especially in this style. I proably wouldn't use it very often.
