Ouch. You should grab a new VCR while they're still grabbable. I think you can pick em up for like $20 a piece. It's a home movie.

Auto-tracking: trading one form of devilry for another.

I asked someone at work today, "Do you still have a VCR?" and he had to think about it.

At least VHS tapes are only $3 at Recycled.

Half inch magnetic tape will live on!!

Yeah, they're becoming a rare beast.

Half-inch mag abides.

What's on tht tape?? (I remember when everything was VHS. These kids now are gonna find a VHS tape and go" Wow, what's this?!" That makes me a sad panda)

It's some home movies.

I'm already feeling dated. I was at a used video store a few weeks ago, looking at a Super Nintendo and thinking fondly of some 16-bit memories, when a girl came up, must have been 14 or 15 years old. She took one look at it and said, "WHOA, this must be like from the '70s!"

Oh wow. That makes ME feel old. And I'm only 3 or 4 years older than this girl... I remember playing nintendo at a young age (And I still have a VCR)

Many a good movie, lost forever in the bowels of the vcr.

Ahh, even better than something cheesy like recorded episodes of Roseanne or Full House.

OzymandiusJones [2007-05-07 14:20:49 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, but you don't get the lovely "....was that crunching my cassette? *checks VCR to find half a yard of black tape wrapped around the heads* *spends the next hour doing a splice job with scotch tape*..." expirience with DVR/DVD.

Lovely focus.

BurlapZack In reply to OzymandiusJones [2007-05-09 00:52:46 +0000 UTC]

True that. I must have been extraordinarily lucky, I never had a VCR just destroy a tape. Certain scenes might get crinkled.

Ha, I still use VHS. I'm always taping crap off of the tv. DVR is for losers.

When I still had TV, ditto. DVR is 'spensive!

Yup. They'll start showing up in movies, just like irises and wipes, and shaky film-look. The Grindhouses of tomorrow.
