I was born in '98 and Β more VHS tapes than most people.Β
Why?
1. They're dirt cheap.
2. They're easy to use.Β
3. Rewinding builds character.Β

OHHHHHHH What a thing. LaserDisc is even rare than that. The only problems with LaserDisc is, we needed to flip the sides and a turtle that appeared on a blank side and said:Β
LaserDisc Turtle Vector by ~Steelpony on deviantART
PROGRAM MATERIAL IS RECORDED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS DISC.

VHS still exists, you can buy them at a dollar store for dirt cheap ($2 for 6-hour tape). I use them because its cheaper than DVD's and easier for storage on a bookcase!

Wait... what?
SINCE WHEN DID 1997 END :0

I thought VHS tapes died in 2006. But however, the legacy of VHS tapes still moved on. There are some people out there who have VHS tapes and they still have VHS players or VCRs. Although, if you tried to reinvent your nostalgia with VHS, you can buy like a VHS/DVD player or something like that.Β At least people still use DVDs.

Excellent pic, but I'll take Blu-Ray any day.

yeah, probably. but now, with dvds and HD technology there is no point of buying one, i guess... ah, c'est la vie

Actually, I think VHS players can play on HDTVs. (If you have a RCA A/V cable which is Yellow, Red and White).

I will tell the tale of the VHS to my future children.
Its production may die, but it will live FOREVER IN MY HEART!

You can also tell your future kids the tale of DVDs if the Blu-Ray Disc format is in the middle era (which the DVDs are in right now).

VHS Rules. VHS has a lower quality & I prefer it that way. DVDS ruin the quality. If they don't make more videos, I will scream at them!

It does have a lo-fi charm to it.

I-SET [2007-07-20 21:36:39 +0000 UTC]
It still does in my book.
VHS may be lower image quality, but it can certainly take a beating, be it a three year old with grubby hands or someone who just tosses it aside to get another one.
VHS rules.

This is true. DVDs are none too hardy.

Long live the king! XD
My friend's brother is six and when she tried to watch a VHS with him was really confused. He'd never seen one before and didn't know what it was! Is that sad or what?! ;_;

That's one thing that DVD can't compete with VHS for.

Love this.
I just bought Nautral Born Killers, Session 9 & May for a buck a piece at a Hollywood Video VHS clear-out sale.
Ace.

Ah yeah. At a video store in the area, they set all their VHS movies in bins outside. It's like they're asking for people to steal them.

IsisRequiem In reply to BurlapZack [2007-05-18 01:25:55 +0000 UTC]
You should steal the bins and leave all the movies there.

I dig this one, ha, its a neat angle.

I see some video stores having a clearance of their tapes. You can get movies dirt cheap.

I'm pissed that once you learn a new format standard, a year from then... some new format is out... and that $1,500 you just spent on a DVR/VTR is completely wasted.

BurlapZack In reply to piccolo [2007-05-09 00:51:27 +0000 UTC]
That's why I wait till it's almost obsolete to buy mine. I didn't pick up a DVD player until just last year, and it was oly 50 bones, as opposed to the hundreds when it was a newer format.

uhm, it STILL rules my world. I don't have a lot of my favorite films on dvd, but I don't really seem to mind.
I love this photo, it's pretty much perfect.
